The La's. Can't believe I didn't think of that one when I was wracking my brain last night. Such a perfect little album.

Nice call on the Demics, Drum. New York City is still one of the best songs ever. Period. Another forgotten CanCon gem - pure perfection.

Oh fuck yes. Would definitely throw The La's on this. ZWAN, Mad Season, Temple of the Dog, plenty of super and sorta-super groups to go around, including this one: Cool Blue Halo could win "best single by a band with one album." Rediscovered this one recently, digging through mid-90s near-forgotten stuff:

Hell yeah on For Squirrels! Actually they put one out (Baypath Rd.) before Example, but I think it was only locally released, and I don't know anybody besides myself that has it. It is pretty awesome though. A little more jangly/R.E.M.-y than the second.

There's also this local music compilation I have with a song (Burning Coals) that they never released anywhere else. Now that song SMOKES!

$200? Jesus. And even MORE R.E.M. sounding?
Figured you'd have some dirt on them, with the whole Florida thing. Fucking tragic story, really. I can remember "Mighty K.C." getting airplay back when I was in the 8th grade, I think. I'd had most of the album on Napster, but forgot about it until very recently. Was almost worried that nostalgia was distorting my memory, but no, this album still kicks ass.

^^^I still have a bunch of their mailing list stuff laying around at home that I need to find. This one was my favorite, except mine doesn't say "Booty."

They're still together. That is an amazing album, though.
And yeah, did a little Avalanches research, apparently they've got the "long awaited second album" coming up soon. But seriously, it's been six years with nothing but a live album, who'd have thunk it?
That For Squirrels mailing list stuff is pretty sweet. I wish I had stuff like that.
