It's a toss-up between SM and Ted Leo, but Ted loses because he was not in Pavement. Figured Malkmus would have the upper hand here because of Pavement, but that last solo album was at least as good as Wowee Zowee. I took Frank Black off because he hasn't done anything solo that's even approached the Pixies. Figured you'd edge it to Leo, though. |

And yeah, he got my vote not just for Pavement, but also because I so dig his solo stuff. And because 'Jenny and the Ess-Dog' is still my favourite song of this decade. Though I would just like to point out that we're talking about who the man is now - not who the man was in 1966. I meant Dylan to be more of a jokey thing, but I guess the dentures comment wasn't rude enough. He did have that album this year, though, which I guess puts him ahead of other "Fuckin' Men of the Past" like Mike Patton or David Byrne. Oh, and I knew I was forgetting someone. "Jack White is a fuckin' guitar god." I suppose Jarvis Cocker could be on this list, but that solo album is doing so little for me that I totally forgot. |
