Welcome To The Working Week is pretty good song by it self but opening that album it's great, it really gets things moving. It's on my list for sure. If I were gonna do a top fifty, the both this and No Action would make the list, but with just 25 slots to fill, I had to go with the absolute perfection of No Action and This Year's Model generally. I had no idea when I started this poll that it would be so hard, beyond the (to me obvious) picks at the top. Once I got past Like a Rolling Stone, it was all extremely murky.

Yeah, my top five look pretty similar to yours...after that it gets more muddled...

I figured you'd have Thunder Road up there as well. Frag should too, which gives it a pretty good shot at winding up near the top of this list once it's all added up.
I'm very curious to see the rest of your list, DED.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars KenHolzmanism? Where? Where? I don't see anything wrong with that quote. (Actually, I was just checking to see if anyone would catch that little error ... yeah, that's what I was doing ... I was just seeing if anyone would actually read everything I listed, and you did! So good for you, you win, um, something. Yeah, that's the ticket).

I can reveal that Don Henley did not make my list.

I can reveal that Don Henley did not make my list. Then your list is poorer for that. I've got a long reputation for championing Henley's two great solo albums, and so "Boys of Summer" made this list in part b/c of that. But also, it's an amazing opening track, and set up the rest of a record that (whatever its flaws) sounded nothing like the Eagles, looked back fondly at a past that seemed to be fading before our eyes in 1984, was a scathing indictment of Reagan's America, and (did I mention this already?) sounded nothing like the Eagles. Considering how arbitrary everything after the first few spots became, I've got no problem with having Don Henley on my list. And anyway, it was co-written by Mike Campbell, and he's awesome.

Excellent list there DED. Love those picks up at numbers one, two and three. Now Frag just needs to come and vote for Thunder Road, too, and it should be assured a spot near the top of the final list. I've loved that song since I first heard it (when I was sixteen, about to move out of a town I was sick to death of, and had just gotten my driver's license) and I've never gotten sick of it. Well I'm no hero that's understood, all the redemption I can offer, girl, is underneath this dirty hood. With a chance to make it good somehow, hey what else can we do now ...

Wow, I just saw that Melaun listed Dylan's "Hurricane" from Desire at number 25. It's a fine opener, too bad the rest of the album is unlistenable.
I thought about including "Jokerman" from 1983's Infidels, but figured that His Bobness was well represented on my honorable mentions anyway.
