It's a good little album. I highly suggest it. They played a TON at this years SXSW and they put on a pretty good little show.

NICE haul on some classic jazz & blues there Weeping! Coincidentaly enough, I had about the same score myself today: Thelonious Monk Straight, No Chaser reissueOtis Rush All Your Love I Miss Loving - LIVE At Wise Fools Pub Chicagovarious artists Stax Records 50th Anniversary CelebrationTurned in some credit card points and got in the mail yesterday a $25 gift card for Borders, so.... The first two pickup had been long eyed with the Monk just being downright essential and the Otis Rush for those smoky, 'get y'er ya-ya's out' moments when nothing else will do but some well-amped blues. Then I just had to see that 2-disc set of Stax hits.... Must had been one of those sucker moments as I quickly dumped the extra 20 bucks on it. But hey, 50 gem cuts of grit and soul by Otis, Booker T, Isaac Hays, Johnnie Taylor, Sam & Dave, etc. --- like the sounds of MoTown taken downtown, call it solid gold or wha'ever, baby this shit's got IT goin' ON!

Just got: Roman Candle - Elliott Smith Now I gotta get From A Basement On A Hill and I'll have all of 'em. Have you purchased the new one that just came out? "New Moon" I believe it is called. They were playing some of it at the record store the other and it's pretty good. It had a stripped down version of "Miss Misery" that was haunting. "Roman Candle" is still my favorite. I absolutely adore that album.

Dude, that Stax comp is just FUN! I love it. EXactly. I put it down once but then was drawn back into getting it --- just plain good sounds. I look at as being there when I want it.....both fulfilling and essential.
