4 chapters left in "Taming Chaos." Its really interesting and I look forward to a third book. After I have read this book I'll call Shimon (a teacher at The Kabbalah Center) at the 800 # and discuss what book might next be suitable. His thoughts.

Guess I'll return to posting about books here. JAC is throwing one of his Christian snits on his board. One of my "Christian snits", eh? I beg to differ. But whatever...if it keeps you from posting mindless drivel on my boards, you can call it what you want.

A christian fit...not a snit would be more appropre. Eh? Good luck on your journey with Christ JAC...try not to blather as you foam at the mouth. Cheerio Mate. Any-hoo...the persons who stole the copy of the new Hawwy Potter and tried to sale it for 90 large should be tarred and feathered. Stupid fools. See, I would have walked away with the 90k don't-ya-know.

My 10 year old son reads Harry Potter. I prefer more adult fare. The last fiction I read was C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce. It was awesome. BTW, I wouldn't know the difference between a "Christian Snit" and a "Christian Fit", the concepts of both being completely alien to me. Furthermore, I do not blather.

Snagged this puppy off my sister's bookshelf during my visit with her in Long Beach. It's the British paperback version - - I like the cover so much better than the stateside ones I've seen. I'm halfway through ROSE MADDER and I can tell you with some degree of self-assurance: it is one of King's most gripping reads. The shit hasn't even begun hitting the fan quite yet -- but I can tell this antagonist "Norman Daniels" -- the wifebeating cop who tries to stalk down his wife Rose for suddenly up & leaving him after 14 yrs of abuse -- is going to make for quite the villain. I can't believe this thing hasn't been made into a major motion picture yet. I've been picturing Edward Norton in the role of Norman -- I think he'd be pitch perfect for it. But then I saw a recent pic of Russell Crowe wearing shades being escorted by an arresting officer in today's paper -- and it made me think that Crowe would make for a harrowing Norman Daniels. In any case -- the book's subject matter of spousal abuse makes for brand of horror far grimmer than most bogies and monsters could ever conjure up. And thankfully -- King does not get into the specifics of Rosie's 14-yr hell-hole marriage in too great detail (otherwise I would not be able to stomach it). This book is one of the most gripping Stephen King novels I've read -- it's a real page-turner. Feminine empowerment never felt so good -- and I got my fingers crossed that the payoff will elicit cheers -- I can only imagine the insufferably torturous end our bad hubby-cop will have to endure. Can hardly wait

I read Rose Madder when it first came out in the mid 80's. Wasn't impressed with it at that time. Perhaps a re-read one of these days. After "Taming Chaos" its a fiction novel or two. Am 1/2 way thru Michael Palmer's "Fatal." Will finish that then its Koontz's "Velocity." (Sounds like the name of a contestant in Miss. Drag-Queen U.S.A.)
Venus Velocity...or Velocity Venus.
What do you think JAC?

Give Lightening or Twilight Eyes a try JAC. You'll sing a different tune me friend.
You'll be happy to know I finished "Taming Chaos" tonight JAC. Three short chapters. Will now keep my schedule and call my kabbalah advisor tomorrow for his suggestion on a third reading. "The Steps Of the Ladder" sounds interesting.
The Lord works in mysterious ways JAC.
Wouldn't you agree?
Inshallah. Thats muslim for "Thy will be done" I believe.

I don't mean to be snide, but I thinkyou overestimate the level of interest I have in the fact that you're reading Taming Chaos. You've got a Kabbalah advisor? If you don't mind me asking, does he charge you anything for his advice? Just curious...

dammit they took away my Rose Madder cover the bastiches. Patlogi an old flame of mine sent me a surprise b-day gift outta the blue last month: a copy of Koontz' "From The Corner Of His Eye" - - haven't read it yet, but I have read Twilight Eyes, and thought it halfway decent. Of course that was "back in the day", and I haven't read much more Koontz beyond that. After Rose Madder I'll probably give the Corner Of His Eye a try.

Lightening is my favorite Koontz novel. 5 Patlogi Stars. I highly recommend that book. Watchers, Odd Thomas, Strangers, The Servants Of Twilight, Shadowfires, The House Of Thunder, Intensity, Sole Survivor, Ticktock, The Door To December, Twilight Eyes are also excellent reads, all at the minimum 4 Patlogi stars.

We missed each others call today. Hopefully we can hook up via the teli tomorow.
