I see Madonna's "Virgin Tour" came to Austin. Played at the Frank Erwin center. I saw Cher's "Farewell Tour" there as well as The Moody Blues "Night At Red Rocks" tour.
Had a chance to see Bruce Springsteen as he performed at the Erwin center two/three years ago. Boy did I blow that one.

Saw the video for "Sorry". She looks hot in it. I think she picked up on everyone talking about her ass in 'Hung Up' so she started flashing it in this one too. Only difference is now she's wearing a silver pair of undies.

Am hopeful that fan club members get first dib's on tickets to her upcoming tour!
Wrote this last summer thinking of Madonna:
The Fashion Reaction
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
To sashay in Versace, stop time in Klein, amaze with Hermes, be banned in Koran, make love not war in Christian Dior, or the passion of Dolce & Gabana.
She strides down the hall, a master wise in design
dressed to kill her smile wild, such a thrill
in Jean Paul Gaultier she glitters like diamonds, cartier
the fashion reaction, in her hands such satisfaction
knows how to dress, a part she plays best
at the end of the day hectic
lounges in silk lingerie, from Frederick's.
To sashay in Versace, stop time in Klein, amaze with Hermes, be banned in Koran, make love not war in Christian Dior, or the passion of Dolce & Gabana.
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
His look he owns, its his all alone
as well he knows, for well he's known be it male or female he'll never tell
disarming, so charming when donning Armani
he'll never stop he's always, alarming.
To sashay in Versace, stop time in Klein, amaze with Hermes, be banned in Koran, make love not war in Christian Dior, or the passion of Dolce & Gabana.
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
clothes wove and sown for every occassion
all professions, everybody's vocation
accessories specialties make them fresh, correct
the hat that adorns you must well match
new shoes to stride high in, felt belts for those svelt
boots worn with suits, but from what House comes Strauss?
To sashay in Versace, stop time in Klein, amaze with Hermes, be banned in Koran, make love not war in Christian Dior, or the passion of Dolce & Gabana.
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction
The day the two meet, an immediate heat
eyes upon eyes she thinks "this guys mine"
in his mind "for this girl, I'd give her the world"
and into the sunset the dance they repeat.
To sashay in Versace, stop time in Klein, amaze with Hermes, be banned in Koran, make love not war in Christian Dior, or the passion of Dolce & Gabana.
The fashion reaction, such sweet satisfaction

Can I just say... yeah, I still think Madonna's brilliant. Bloody brilliant, at that.
You watch the videos for "Hung Up" and "Sorry" and it's obvious that they go together. I really didn't think "Hung Up" was that great of a video, but just like anything with Madonna, it works better in the larger context. In the beginning of "Hung Up" you have Madonna all alone dancing in some dance studio, while other people are being drawn to the club by her song, where she eventually ends up. She struts in, and while all of these people's individual talents are shown appreciation, she's still the center of attention by her sheer bravado.
Which then takes us to "Sorry" where she leaves the club and enters her Pimped out van, where more people try to impress her, and she ultimately looks bored. They end up in some cage match where it looks like a dance competition. Everyone in the video is undoubtedly far younger than Madonna, but when she takes off that jacket entering into the dance-off she shows, hey, I got it, too. Her little yoga style dance says, "I'm pretty close to 50, but I can do this shit, and stay on top." Ultimately, they end up roller-skating, having a good time, cause hey, she might be arguably the most famous woman in the world, but she likes to have fun, too.
That's her fucking brilliance. I have to find some higher purpose of the videos to identify with them, especially in the Madonna context. She still has it. She might not sell a ton of records like she used to in America, but she's still the Queen of Pop. Queens can be popular to some, unpopular to others, but Queens still reign.
While unnecessarily watching American Idol last week (yeah, I can get picked on for that), I realized why non of these people compare. They are a created product, whereas Madonna created herself. Now that's sheer brilliance.
BTW...

I haven't bought any of the single maxi's from "COADF." I plan to get the maxi single for "Jump" which remains my favorite song from the album. It has that catchy happy-go-lucky feel like "Vogue" or "Cherish."

They haven't been released yet in standard form, but I have this cool thing called iTunes and they were released a week or so ago. And yeah, I'm rockin' out to those remixes.
