(Do you start with the ears or save 'em for last?)
So to maybe help you tokers smokers help you kick, how about some stories of the worst brands you ever tried? I've heard people talk about the low-quality GPC types or the Pall-Mall unfilters, etc. All I can identify with is the secondhand sufferings I had from my dad's Barclay 100's, though I'm not to keen on the smell of Marlboro's.

I love the smell of Pall Mall's unfilters, and I've been a Marlboro smoker for almost 20 years. I appreciate the effort Ayinger, but I don't think this will work. I will say I can't stand the smell of second-hand smoke. But I do like the smell of a burning Top Leaf Dunhill. Although I wouldn't want to smoke one now. I'm really impressing myself so far. I've had zero urge, especially since I tossed out my last packet a few days ago. I think the trick is to find something to occupy my fingers with. I had my first cup of coffee today too since I stopped, and once again didn't want to light one up. I seriously don't know what's come over me. Maybe it's just a defence mechanism of some sort putting me off wanting to do it. I just hope it lasts.

My older sister smoked *Gitanes*, those nasty french cigarettes ... French *Gauloises*, on the other hand, were just strong enough! Best smoke I ever had was with my trusted seasoned pipes and Mac Baren pipe tobacco. Loved the smell ... Smoking flavored sweet tobacco mixture with a water pipe in an outdoor café in Morocco was not bad either ...

The continuing oblivion is scary.

The continuing oblivion is scary. Phil - this isn't a PRO smoking thread. MMMMMkay? LoL! Well, I do enjoy the occasional smoking material in a water pipe... I smoked Marlboro Lights for most of my smoking years, except for an early and short period of Salems. I tried the bargain brands later on, but found that they were wanting in the volume and pressing/rolling quality of the tobacco, so they just burned up faster, tended to lose the hot rock (bad!) and had too many crappy adulterants in them. It gives me a pretty strong pang when I leave a store and smell the lingering cigarette smoke in the air, from those smoking by the doors. Worst was the smell of those horrible clove cigarettes. That shit used to just about gag me when we'd be playing in clubs. (Do you start with the ears or save 'em for last?)Ears first, of course, Don. You nibble them down until you have like, an Easter prairie dog, and then the mayhem really begins. ;D

3 weeks now, still haven't had a smoke. This is great. I also noticed today that walking uphill is much, much easier on the lungs. On the downside, my sense of taste is better than it's been since I can remember. Most would argue that this is a great thing, but for someone who has always had a tendency to weight gain this kinda sucks. I've been eating like a pig lately.
Another thing I've noticed is that sleeping is much easier too.
The urges for a smoke are almost completely gone. The only time I really, really wanted one was when I dreamt that I was smoking and woke up looking all over the place for a smoke. Luckily I didn't find any.

Nice....I just quit myself after swearing that I wouldn't. It's been a four weeks and it feels weird still. The workouts have been much better though.

Yeah hang tough guys. I quit the chantix after about 9-10 weeks and am still smoking. When I get ready I'll go back the nicottine gum route.

This is coming from a non-smoker, but from witnessing friends & loved ones going through the kick I'm pretty much a believer that everyone's got their 'time' when they can do it. The habit is SOOOO rooted into one's Life and what's going on and all --- some I think find a certain call or a certain determination that hits...other, hell it must be judged on if it's raining that day or not.
The bastardly holds cigarettes have are incredible but how great to hear about reawakenings such as Kool mentioned....I say whatthehell: go out and enjoy the richness of a good BBQ! And Skvor brings up the workouts --- if you're into hitting the gym and shit, I know that can be an addiction in itself and hopefully plugging into that helps.

I haven't smoked since Sunday (cold turkey). It's been kind of boring and anti-climatic. I expected to crave cigs all the time, but I've barely craved them more than a couple of times per day.
I really wanted to be bitchy.

After a smoke-less month, I had a couple of puffs yesterday but quickly butted it out. It was gross, and the aftertaste was nasty. It reminded me of when I started smoking as a teen and was forcing myself to do it because it was 'cool'. I immediately brushed my teeth and washed my hands because the smell was making me sick. The only way I see myself becoming a chain smoker again is if I 'force' myself to do it, and at this point, I don't see it happening. My will to not smoke again is much stronger than my cravings for one. At least at this moment in time.

I think I scared myself straight this time. I've been able to lose weight and stay off the cancer sticks. My friends still smoke, which makes it tough, especially at band practice but for the most part, I haven't really thought about it.
Keep it up....keep it up.
Pat!? Chantix?! Man, I heard that was some scary shit. Did you feel weird when you were on that stuff?

Yeah, people smoking around you makes it difficult. You occasionally want to grab that smoke and say "what the hell, it's only one", but then you remember it never is just one. I gotta say though I'm glad I haven't become one of those annoying born-again non-smokers who trash smokers complaining about the "smell". If anything, I'm a little envious of the smell. It just stinks when it's on peoples breath or on their clothes. btw, I'm convinced the whole "nicotine addiction" is BS. At least with me it is. I'm pretty sure it's the gesture/habit we become addicted too, and not the nicotine itself. Which is why patches and gum have never worked with me. For the first few smoke-less days all I did was chew regular gum and eat a little more than usual. OK, a LOT more. But I'm finally starting to control that now that urges are almost entirely gone. And no, Philip Morris did not pay me to say this.
