Dr. Pepper is disgusting. So is Coke. But Diet Dr. Pepper is the nectar of the gods, and Diet Coke certainly gets the job done. Regular Pepsi is drinkable, though.

And anyone who can't tell that a site with "rosypalm" in the title isn't safe for work deserves to get caught.

OK in fairness, I've never actually HAD diet Dr. P... the regular stuff just repulses me, and as a rule diet stuff tastes worse. And I'm not choosy between Coke or Pepsi - I'll drink whatever's in the fridge - as long as it's regular. I'll drink diet Coke if need be, but I'd rather drink sewage than drink diet Pepsi. But all of the above lose out to this: Pop Shoppe orange pop. Now THERE'S a nectar of the gods.

Yeah, you can't beat locally/regionally brewed sodas. Those are the best.
But the thing I love about Diet Dr. Pepper is that it's completely guilt free and packed with caffeine. And delicious. And it does NOT taste "more like regular Dr. Pepper." Blah.

The transitional period between fall and winter You live in the southwest, right? Try living in the upper Midwest. The period between fall and winter is nothing but a reminder that you better have your fun while you can, because before you know it, you won't be able to go outside without either trudging through two feet of snow, or at least having to deal with your balls shriveling up inside you while a freezing wind blows in your face, as your will to live slowly diminishes. Granted, when I finally got around to leaving Detroit, I just ended up in Chicago, so I guess my complaints can only be taken so seriously.

Rocky--that is all the more reason to relish in that transition from fall to winter! That sweet wedge of time! Im fuckin with you...That would suck. I have some friends and family from the upper midwest--plus I was born in North Dakota. Ive seen pictures of my father giving the bird to the "You are entering North Dakota" sign--Hows Chicago? Winter is pretty bad there too right? You enjoy living there?

--Hows Chicago? Winter is pretty bad there too right? You enjoy living there? Haven't been here long, but so far I'm really loving it here (I moved here December 3rd). Still haven't found work, but otherwise I couldn't be happier here. Tons of great places to go, lots of great things to see. Chicago is a great city. December was pretty rough in terms of weather. Lots of snow, and holy shit was it cold. The harsh winter weather started the day after I moved in and lasted a couple weeks. I was just thankful that it didn't start a day or two earlier -- it would have been terrible trying to move in the midst of all of that. January hasn't been bad at all though. There's really only been one bad day of weather, and there were a couple genuinely nice days out. The Tribune tells me that this is the mildest January in Chicago since the Great Depression, so I guess it's probably unreasonable to expect it to last, but so long as it's going to stay nice I'm going to enjoy it. Today really seemed like it should be mid-March, not mid-January. I'm going to go to my first live music show here this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it. The live shows are the one thing I'm really missing about Detroit, but its not that there isn't plenty of music here, it's just that I haven't explored the venues yet. Once I figure out the right places to go for music, then I'll be all set here (other than that whole job thing).

In the upper Midwest the period between fall and winter is rightfully called "winter".
It has been a scarily warm late December and early January, but that only means more ice.

Down here, the period between fall and winter is called "summer." Not to mention it's January, and I'm about to leave for work in short sleeves.
This weather has been pretty fucked up, though. We were averaging 40s and 50s in October, but since then, it's been all upper 60s to mid 70s. Not normal.

It's been bizarrely mild here too... in fact, I was able to come to work sans winter coat today, which NEVER happens in January.
People in Toronto are super-sissy about the weather though, I find. It's supposed to be over 50 degrees F here today (when it's usually about -10) and there are still tons of people all bundled up like mummies. It's like spring here today!
