I love the Trashcan Sinatras. Straight up. Just thinking about their songs makes me feel better about life on this planet.

Trashcan Sinatras are great.
I've been living in my current apartment for like 7 years now (I've been wanting to move forever, but I'm too lazy), and there's this kid (at least I'm assuming it's a kid - I've never seen him/her) who lives in a house near my apartment that practices the piano every Sunday.
I love the fact that the kid has recently started playing Hammond organ.

I've never heard Trashcan Sinatras either, sadly. But I love that I've discovered a new ridiculously addictive snack that tastes like apple pie in a bag.

I love the Trashcan Sinatras. Straight up. Just thinking about their songs makes me feel better about life on this planet. My wife's favorite band and quite possibly the most underated band of the last 16 years.

Your wife has good taste. I bet she doesn't listen to all that 80s metal junk that you have in your vinyl collection either

Didn't Trashcan Sinatras have a cut called "Obscurity Knocks" back in about '90 or '91? Great song, as I recall. If that was them anyway.
What's a good intro to the band? If they've been around for 16 years, I'm sure that some efforts are more worthy than others.

I'll happily defer to Riley on the question of what their best album is, but I can confirm that they are indeed responsible for "Obscurity Knocks." The album that contains the song, Cake, is the only one I have but since you like Aztec Camera I see no reason why you wouldn't love that album. But again, you should probably wait to hear from Riley. They were actually close friends with Sunny Day Service which is how I found out about them. Keiichi Sokabe still hangs out with them from time to time according to his website, though I bet that he makes way more money from music than the Trashcan Sinatras do

Just checked out the iTunes music store and they've got Cake for just $7.99. I think that I may have seen it on the used rack here as well. And the review (AMG) sounds like something I'd like quite a bit. They also say it's their best album, so I think I'm gonna be buying this soon.

You know what I found out after an all-weekend experimentation? It's impossible to make vegetarian pho.

samples-what is vegetarian pho?
Ken-check out Ive Seen Everything by the Trashcan Sinatras. If you cant find it let me know. If you find it and you dont like it, you can chuck it at my head and I will go "ow!" Cake is really good, but its "not quite there". IVE SEEN EVERYTHING sees them finding their legs. The songs are more lushly produced and it kicks more ass (if I can use "it kicks more ass when talking about this particular band)
I love: Canned Peas and Tuna. Dont ask. Just throw some ranch dressing on that and youre good!

wayved - It's a Vietnamese noodle dish. It has a funky texture, but I like it.

Funky texture? It's just broth and rice noodles and a bunch of crazy vegetables. What is funky about that?
Pho is mainly an excuse to eat a lot of srirachi sauce and bean sprouts. Soooo good for you when you're sick. A thousand times better than chicken noodle soup. You need to try it sometime wayved.. Probably if you look up "pho" (pronounced "fuh") in the yellow pages under restaurants you'll find at least a few, they are generally named "Pho ____".
Just don't get the one with tripe. Pegh.
