When I voted yesterday I was in and out in about 15 minutes, and almost all of that was the time it took to fill out the ballot. There was 3 poll workers. No other voters when I arrived, two otheres when I left. And this isn't a podunk town, certainly. Maybe it was late ienough n the morning when everyone else was at work already, but it did strike me as odd, and sort of discouraging, as I figured higher voter turnout would be better for Dems this time around. I guess it turned out okay though.
Has anyone seen any numbers regarding voter turnout yet?

Rocky-Spotted Dick is a (to me, cos I do not like raisins) disgusting dessert served in the UK mainly. Any respectable pub that serves food serves that shit, and I just could not see myself getting a dessert of Spotted Dick. Like the Heinz Can says--a sponge cake with raisins...But, if you go into their version of Wal Mart (ASDA) they sell it FROZEN! "Dont Forget the Spotted Dick Lurve!" Cake is not supposed to come in a can.

I don't think it's ever taken me more than 5 minutes or so to cast a vote in any election. A 2.5-hour wait for voting sounds egregious to me. It almost makes me think that they're purposefully trying to discourage voting. The local election office deserves some angry phone calls, IMO.
I've always found it kind of interesting that elections seem to be held on weekdays over there. Here, they're held on weekends.

Im just jaded to the core. Democrat, Republican, whatever. Show me some honesty. Im glad people care about it but Im just so fucking jaded and (just a little) uneducated regarding politics. Its like bad TV. Here in Tucson the Ads were so evil, the mud was slinging EVERYWHERE! "So and So didnt do this" "So and So doesnt care about that" Forget you both. Im an adult and I do not want to see a fight in a sandbox--is that OK? Im not voting for either! All your initiatives are shit. The propositions are preposterious also. BAN SMOKING IN BARS...why dont you focus on the EDUCATION SYSTEM? I only go to a bar once every couple years and if I am there I wanna have a cigarette when I drink. Its so DUMB. I would probably throw a drink in the face of someone who told me to turn my cigarette off in any bar--cos both drinks and smokes can cause you harm. I would probably be arrested. If smoking and drinking is all Im doing you better be thankful. Your dentist is probably recovering from some pot hangover. Your religious leader is human too, and being convicted of this that and the other. If I gave enough of a shit, and became some kind of weird dictator (which would never happen because I would rather have democracy than tyranny-trust me--nop one on this board has experienced tyranny) Rush Limbaugh would be forced to have a real job. yak yak yak. Shut up. Who gives a fuck... Who makes these celebrities? The public does. All his "wit" makes me want to create a law that such bullshit should not be polluting the airwaves. I have friends that are obsessed with that talk radio bullshit....Its all entertainment for the so called "politically enlightened" which is still bullshit. All those so-called radio celebrities and democrat vs. republican pundits who get paid more than anyone on these boards would be forced to work fast food for a fucking year. Or spend a term in Iraq (this one is especially important--"this is Rush Limbaugh coming to you from the (mortar blast) "oh shit -ahhh). Tons of peace loving Americans join the military just cos they want to keep their fucking families safe--some of em never see their home until they are dead--Go ahead Dems and Reps--just keep on talking. Talk your asses off! Show me your ads. Let me vote. Show me your initiatives on smoking in bars, breastfeeding in public, and the Great Pumpkin. -----Or try to teach children who are mentally disabled. Go the fuck ahead. No one seems to really care about that.... I see pictures of youth holding their flags in the air for their candidates but nothing is being done for the state of the elderly, the wrongly convicted, etc. just another night out on the town. Glamour. Sickening and brutal. The Super Bowl.

agh. it's too early in the day to start panicking about that stuff. i schedule that for around 2pm. just in time to give my last three hours at work a nice bite to it.
denver's voting situation was bad for a lot of reasons. they had reduced the number of polling stations from something like 40 to 10. it was exactly like what they did with the DMV offices, and had exactly the same effect; when i went to get a new drivers license i spent two hours waiting for my number to be called, and that wasn't even considered a long wait.
also i know at least in the city and county of denver building where i voted, the computers had been down off and on all day. so instead of a nice steady stream of 15 people voting at once and us all getting bumped forward 15 steps, sometimes we stood in one place for twenty minutes while they exasperatedly tried restarting the computers and stuff. it was FUCKING ridiculous. yes, many of us were speculating on how happy this must have been making the republicans, since by 6:00 people were walking in, taking one look at the line of a thousand people, and walking right back out. "it's just not worth it." "i have to go to class."
but you know what? even with all the nonsense we put up with, thousands and thousands of people sat in line for hours and hours and didn't leave. we voted, dammit. and that's what i needed to see. that people cared enough to look directly across from them at another portion of the line.. and see another portion behind them.. quadruple stacked like dominos.... and pretty much only feel pride. some news guy came around interviewing us, asking us how long we'd been there etc. he asked me if someone should get fired. (obviously fishing for an angle.) who exactly would you fire, mister? the I.T. crew? the head of the committee who decided to reduce the number of polling stations? the poor folks who'd been there since 5 in the morning facilitating the process? i gave him a disquieting look which i hope made it to the news and asked him if he'd voted or if he'd just spent all day working on this "let's fire somebody!" story.

Do we have a Guilty Pleasures board somewhere? I need some kind of confessional around after nights that I danced to She Wants Revenge. =/

I just heard that Kevin Federline's new album has sold 2,200 copies in it's first week of release. Worldwide.
If that's not good news regarding the world's collective taste, I don't know what is.

If we're being honest I'd tell you that I heard a song from the K-Fed album and it wasn't any worse then all the other crap that gets played on the radio and if I was into that stuff I might actually think it was kind of good. I'm not going to be honest though. It may be the worst album ever made.

K-Fed tickets are free, but Ticketmaster still charges a $2.25 service charge! And now I hear that the show has been cancelled -- they couldn't GIVE AWAY SEATS for this guy's performance.
I've heard 'em play bits of K-Fed's raps on the radio (some fairly long excerpts, actually). I don't know shit about rap, but I know that this is crap. I can tell the difference between something like Public Enemy or Eminem and this shit.
I just love that this egotistical bastard is getting his karmic due.
