You know that saying "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" -?
I think it is, essentially, hogwash. I think it's more accurate to state
"Invention is the Mother of Necessity", and I'll tell you why.
I've noticed that here in the workplace, if I don't make the morning pot of coffee . . . no one drinks coffee. But if I make it, they'll drink it. Happens everytime.
I've been the official coffee-pot maker every morning ever since I began working here, before Sept 11. And I've gone (sometimes) an entire week or 2. . . I think last month (Jan) I didn't make any coffee .. . and so no one drank it any, or bothered to make the pot on their own.
Sure, they probably went to Starbucks or whatnot, but see what I mean?
