I thin we hit our limit on the other movie board.
Anyway, I responded to RocDoc's inquiry about Miyazaki.
Miyazaki is one of the masterminds of Studio Ghibli, which is my favorite animation company. Ghibli inked a deal with Disney Pixar to have their films reissued on DVD with American actors providing the voice talent. They were released in Targets all across the nation slowly over the last couple of years and then slowly permeated other venues in the DVD sales market. For the longest time you had to buy bootlegs from Japan and just hope that they worked with your DVD player.
Miyazaki is responsible for such greats as Porco Ross, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa, Tales of the North Sea and several others. I can't wait for his new one, Ponyo, which should be released by Pixar in theaters this summer.

the pages on the 'broken' one do not appear, even after i logged in which shouldn't even be necessary.
anyway whatever you wrote there i cannot see.
i've seen close to 50% of miyazaki's output and love his work.
but i recall entering 'miyazaki' at IMDB once. many miyazaki's and among them, 2 directors popped up...i have totoro right here (needs to be returned to the library today) and totoro's director is 'hayao miyazaki'...fwiw.

Ghibli et le mystère Miyazaki (2005) (TV) Director:Yves Montmayeur
User Comments fairly insightful but overall inspiring, 1 August 2005 7/10 stars
Author: d-JCB from Melbourne, Australia
This doco is a closer look into the world of the most inspiring animation house in the world - Studio Ghibli. If you aren't already familiar, or in my case, obsessed with this animation crew, the main contributors are Isao Takahata ("My Neighbors the Yamadas" - 1999, "Grave of the Fireflies" - 1988) and Hayao Miyazaki ("Howl's Moving Castle" - 2004, "Princess Mononoke" - 1997, "Spirited Away" - 2001) who, is by far the visual genius at the Ghibli office. Miyazaki has delivered some of the most inspiring visuals of the highest quality with fantasy landscapes and characters that are incomparable to any other, I can vouch for this with "My Neighbor Totoro" (1988) high up in my list of favourite films.
Interviews with all the key Ghibli players are present: Ghibli President, Toshio Suzuki; key directors Takahata and of course Miyazaki - plus other amusing/enlightening interviews - for example a tour of the Ghibli world via the 'biggest fan of Ghibli'. The Ghibli crew talk about their experiences working on the productions, the people they collaborated with, and the 'Ghibli experience' being a ride where fun is the primary objective. You also get a guided tour of the infamous Ghibli Museum by the manager of the praised museum, Miyazaki's son, where you'll see full size plush versions of Totoro and many of the characters in the films. Other content worth mentioning is visits to the locations that inspired Miyazaki's back drops, which as you'd expect, are huge tourist attractions, minus Princess Mononoke in person. Many movies are mentioned throughout as well as enough discussion with the major players, however it's more of an overview of the films and the Ghibli unit as a whole, so don't expect to see what colour underwear Miyazaki wears on Tuesdays.
Being a Ghibli nut, I still learnt a lot with this doco, no point where I was bored, it gave me a buzz to see more! However this is coming from a Ghibli fan so it's hard to disconnect from this to see if others would find it interesting, plus it doesn't go as deep as some Ghibli freaks would like.

Naruto is definitely the correct manga.
Lots of cool manga websites out there! Wow.
And I've watched an ingrown toenail fester three times in the past 5-6 days so "nasty yellow matter custard" is fresh in my mind.

They should change that title to "The Day The Earth Stood Stupid". I loved the original.
What the fucking happened to Nicolas Cage? That guy just sucks now.

Since Raising Arizona I always had the impression Nicolas Cage is on like.. a lot of morphine or something. It would explain so much.
Bruno, ah.. eh. So much penis.

Sasha Baron Cohen just isn't really that funny anymore.

i don't really watch his stuff for him though. it's the filmed reactions TO him that can be so priceless. bruno had this scene where a lady was agreeing to her "child star wannabe" infant being on or around heavy machinery, dressed up like a nazi pushing a jew baby into a kiln, that kinda stuff reassures me i can still be surprised by the inanity of human beings.

I didn't care for the original "Swept Away" as I recall....the nudity was fine but,,,,well maybe that's all I was watching it for....
I thought the "Holmes" preview looked promising but hopefully it won't be hokey. Downey can do the 'nod & a wink' thing only so far with such a character. Jeremy ______ of the Brit serial still has my ideal image of Sherlock.

THAT'S the ticket Samps! Can't believe I couldn't come up with his last name. Won't say I had a crush on him but in that role, he just nailed it IMO.
(You still out on the west coast or drift back into Denver? Can't recall after all this time.... Was aiming to head out to COL. in a month or so for this big beer fest --- unfortunately I don't think I'm going to have the cashflow going again by then to make it)
