I might as well put it here too... just so all the YSI links can be found in one place. www.sendspace.com/file/h8era52002 remaster with bonus tracks. 1. Icehouse - Great Southern Land (5:19) 2. Icehouse - Uniform (4:13) 3. Icehouse - Hey Little Girl (4:25) 4. Icehouse - Street Cafe (4:13) 5. Icehouse - Glam (instrumental) (3:22) 6. Icehouse - Trojan Blue (5:03) 7. Icehouse - One By One (4:02) 8. Icehouse - Break These Chains (3:43) 9. Icehouse - Mysterious Thing (4:25) 10. Icehouse - Goodnight Mr. Matthews (4:00) Bonus tracks: 11. Icehouse - Over The Line (2:45) 12. Icehouse - Glam (12" version) (6:33) 13. Icehouse - Uniform (12" German version) (6:07) 14. Icehouse - Street Cafe (single mix) (4:13) 15. Icehouse - Love In Motion (USA recording) (3:37) 16. Icehouse - Can't Help Myself (live) (5:39) 17. Icehouse - We Can Get Together (live) (3:54) And then there's this masterpiece too, their debut. This has a little more of a 'band' feel to it than Primitive Man. A little heavier on the guitars, a little less synths. There's also a bit of a Gary Numan vibe on this one, mainly on the spooky opening title track, which as Ben mentioned, is fantastic. www.sendspace.com/file/jsdahx1. Icehouse 2. We Can Get Together 3. Fatman 4. Sister 5. Walls 6. Can't Help Myself 7. Skin 8. Sons 9. Boulevarde 10. Nothing to Do 11. Not My Kind 12. Send Somebody 13. All the Way 14. Paradise Lost [Instrumental] 15. Love in Motion [Original Single Mix] 16. Goonight, Mr. Matthews [B-Side] 17. Can't Help Myself [Original 10" Single Mix] Again, this is a 2002 remaster with bonus tracks. Anyone who's into Roxy Music, late 70s Bowie, Gary Numan or T.Rex should at least give these a shot. The sound quality on both is great too.

A good rip of Macca's new album, Memory Almost Full, one of the few albums from a veteran act this year which hasn't disappointed. This is really good. www.sendspace.com/file/kke4s3

Flowers (aka Icehouse in US) as I remember it always left me a bit, er,,,,cold. I should pop it in again and see what I think......
Primative Man was where the band hit be the best. "Uniform", "Hey Little Girl", and esp. "Street Cafe" were heavy, heavy plays by me back in the college radio days where I first found this album buried back in stacks.
Man Of Colours came out at that time when I was Music Director of the station and I soooo pushed people to play "Crazy" --- the girl on air just before me fell in love with the song and I remember it as being the last tune she played on her final shift as a goodbye to me.
ahhhh,,,IMO the band should have got as much play as say INXS did back in those days........

INXS were better for a longer period of time than Icehouse were. They were good from the early 80s way into the mid 90s. Up until "Welcome To Wherever You Are" that is. The [last] couple of albums [with Michael] that followed were horrible. I've yet to check out the new one with that Rock Star winner and I have no desire to either. As far as I'm concerned, Hutchence not only killed himself in that hotel room that night, but took INXS with him. Man Of Colours is OK I guess. The high points are the singles "Crazy" and "Electric Blue". But as an album, I don't think it comes close to the other two. Even Measure For Measure is better. But you're right, Primitive Man is the best, with Flowers/Icehouse right behind it. btw, I've also got Measure For Measure and Man of Colours on my HD, so if anyone wants a YSI of those, let me know.

if it's not a bother, I would love those..You've got me on a total Icehouse kick this week!!...... I did like Inxs in the 80s but they never bowled me over as they did others...... I never knew you were music director Ayinger......so did you have lay of the land or did you have to stick to a pretty constrained play list? Mind you we were very small time and it was a learning enviroment of what BIG radio was all about so we had to follow a format, 'hot clocks' that somewhat were to control what you played and when, etc. We had a fair music library which was like heaven to me the first time I saw it. Picture a moment like when Dorothy first opens the cottage door to see Oz and that's how it was for me when I first opened that door: the light dimmer went up on FULL, a choir sounded, everything turned rosey-glowing color. Just shelves & shelves of lps and 45's........ When that later became my office, what I was able to do was go through all that shit, review and catatlog it for airplay and thus expose some of the gold in there to the jocks who then might spin it. This was the mid-late 80's and I remember Ride The Lightning was jammed back in there collecting dust --- you have to realize that the sorts of Metallica back then just scared the shit out of most people! And yeah, Icehouse's Primative Man was one that I just stumbled upon w/o knowing a single thing of the band except that when I heard it, I wanted EVERYone to hear it.

Kool...I do have the album 'sidewalk' and I would be happy to digitize it.....as a warning (as ken knows!!) it is saved as one *.wav or *.mp3) file so it is not bifurcate by songs...but sound quality really is not that bad...let me know and I'll grab the LP from my house and digitize it early next week and save as mp3 file.......

Wow. Nice find there Ayinger! I'm downloading it now [the first link is the one that worked for me]. Thanks!! Edit: That second link has a lot of stuff I've always wanted too. Fantastic! Now I have to clear a ton of shit from my HD. I think I've only got a GB or so of free space left.
