Got the Neil Finn live-DVD which is amazing!
Don't worry about Muse and BSS- I do like bits and pieces of them, I just don't listen too often to them. The new Muse-disc has got some good moments even though his voice occasionally drives me bonkers.

If you hate everything on it Maarts, just lie to me. I'm not nearly comfortable enough in my skin for honesty or realism.

I think Holzman hates my disc, as he's been conspicuously silent on it since he got it over a week ago.

Yeah, I guess he hasn't posted much in the last few days. That could explain it.
I sent him 15 really choice live Billy Joel cuts.

Wow, I had no idea that even existed - I don't know how I missed it. Paint It Black, All You Need is Love, a Television cover and an alternate version of The Killing Moon (only one of the most perfect songs of all time)? I'm sold. Thanks Ayinger - I'll have to keep an eye out.

Ok Riley- here we go- your mix is in the player, let's roll:
1. Muse- In Your World Like the rollicking intro but Muse still doesn't tick my clock for the rest. It's not bad but it's nothing special.
2. Radiohead- Where I End And You Begin It's not one of my fave Radiohead-tracks but live it stands well. Love the infinite guitar Johnny employs at the end. It sounds a bit shuddery, as if it was recorded on a bus travelling on a rough road!
3. Beta Band- Dog's Got A Bone Very classy! With melodica and the nice quirky basslines- one of my faves off 3 EPs!
4. The Dears- End Of a Hollywood Bedtime Story Jeez, this sounds good! Great vocalist and very well built up to the psychedelic swirl at the end! Need to pick this album up!
5. Dismemberment Plan- A Life Of Possibilities Was quite ready to dismiss it because of the poofy falsettovocal in the beginning but it ends up pretty OK. Has this angular Pavement-thing about it that is pretty good but it's difficult for me to remember the song!
6. Bloc Party- This Modern love Count me in on the group who like Bloc Party 9and anything that has relations with the Interpol-Editors chugachug-guitar class of the noughties!). This is a track that would have me bopping along in the moshpit!
7. Trash Can Sinatras- The Genius I Was Wow, weird segue into the song. Excellent languid Byrnesian vocalist, music reminding me partly of Lloyd Cole and The Chameleons. The song gets a bit lost in itself near the end though.
8. Arcade Fire- Wake Up Yes! Like Penguin Cafe Orchestra on battery acid! Favourite drinking song of last year and not difficult to see why. Could have been a bit more intense as the album version so filled with static electricity that it's due to explode at any second.
9. Sunny Day Real Estate- Every Shining Time You Arrive Didn't quite hook me as the build up to the end doesn't quite lead to an orgiastic ending.
10. TV On The Radio- Poppy Saw them last week and they were pretty good- it's difficult to translate their hectic music onto stage and fully reproduce that sound but they come very close, they certainly do with this track. This is beautiful. Definitely one of the best bands to emerge out of the noughties. Really makes me wish A.R. Kane were still around- like them so fucking sonically brilliant!
11. The Jayhawks- Blue Damn, what a fine track! One of the bands that deserved to go mega but saw second rate copies like Train take the millions. Awesome track of Tomorrow The Green Grass- due for a revisit soon, I reckon!
12. Hayden- Trees Lounge Does he ever tune his guitar? With a lot of these Americana-solo-artists I usually get a bunch of repetitive chords and a ditto vocal line and this is one of those. Can't say it floats my boat even after a replay or two.
13. Modest Mouse- Trailer Trash The mighty Mouse! I haven't really listened too often to them, don't know why, it's not that I don't like Isaac Brock but it's one of the bands I can take or leave. This is OK. Guess I expected a bit more weirdness?
14. Interpol- Hands Away Still one of my fave bands this side of the century. Awesome spiky melody dressed up with light keyboards and building up to an almost New Order-type track. Top choice!
15. Pernice Brothers- Working Girls Yeah, very homely in a Finn Brothers-kinda sense. Works really well for me.
16. Broken Social Scene- Almost Crimes 'Maarts in Eating His Own Words-Shock'? Almost. This is very good indeed. Nice riff and Amy Millan's Bjorkian-vocal cutting in is sweet. But beware, 'one swallow does not make summer' as they say...
No lies nor dishonesty in this review. Muchas gracias, Riley! Definitely one I'll play more often!
