You're kind of a schmuck, pew. Do you believe your bullshit? 'Cause we ain't buying it. I believe it, and you believe it too--possibly without even knowing you believe it. Look, categorization is a good thing. In fact its a neccesary thing. I mean, when you go into the supermarket would you want your bananas lumped with, say, toilet paper? I'm not saying its going to make people mistakenly stick bananas up their ass, but catagorizing things DOES makes life easier for people. Some people need "order" and there's nothing wrong with labeling something as to help place it in the "grand scheme" of things in order to make you better equiped to figure out this crazy roller coaster we call life...

No, you're an idiot not because ^ that isn't true but because you think it justifies you being a dick about the differences between new wave and new wave rock.

Ok Pew, sounds for survival are not in the same category as music. The common person doesn't really differentiate between Justin Timberlake and My Chemical Romance. To them, it's just cool music. There are times when labeling is cool, like botany where knowing which plants are poisonous and which ones arent' for human consumption just to give an example. Saying music is on par with this is just argumentative and ridiculous.

Well, it's "rockjism", something we're just not into like PEW is.

For the record, I think your obsession with analyzing music is great, PEW. I mean to say, more power to ya man. Its just, I think you should try to "reel in" your, I don't know quite how to put it, but for lack of a better term, "intrusiveness" into the worldview (or in this case, "musicview") of the regulars here.
i.e, Try and back down some, and be aware of this "line" you are crossing in terms of people's "personal space", know what I mean?
Hey man, I think you have immense potential for classy and insightful contributions to music discussions, here or in any forum. I actually admire your mind's resolve to categorize everything and label it like you do, really I admire it.
It's just your delivery of your POVs that needs work, ya dig?
My advice is simply try and listen as much as you talk, or in the case of these boards, try and carefully read what others are saying just as much as you write your own posts.
I hope the inadvertant damage you have caused to the potential relations w/peeps here isn't irreversible, but I don't know. Obviously some folk around here have it out for you, and if you put yourself in their shoes, you should be able to see why.
Convos are a two way street man, and you seem to be adamant about proclaiming YOUR way as the only way, to be honest. Try and cut us a little slack, and allow for 2-way conversations.
I won't give up on you man. But that's just me. . . either infinitely patient, or a streak of sado-masochism . . . you decide. ;D

It's that pew doesn't start these discussions because he wants our opinion...and lord knows he should, most of us know more about music in an academic sense then he does...he starts them so he can lord his opinions over us and show off his genre term of the week... oh and push his blog. When pew has shown that he actually wants to have a discussion, we've discussed with him. He usually doesn't though.

Thorn, I really like you. In fact I pretty much like everyone here to be honest, but you especially come off as an exceptionally nice and thoughtful person. And I read your advice on how to behave here, but I cant change who I am--nor do I really want to. I'm perfectly happy with my status on this board and my relationship to everyone here. I really see no reason to change. If others dont like me, I really cant help it. I am what I am, as Popeye used to say...but I sincerely appreciate your concern and your attempt to try and help me. But the thing is that I really dont see myself as needing help. I'm perfectly happy with the way things are and the way I am... And seriously, am I really hurting anyone's feelings here? Am I really pissing anyone off that much? I mean this is just a message board, its not like we are next door neighbors or co-workers who cant avoid each other. I dont see why if someone doesnt like what I say, that they just dont read my posts. Or if they cant help from reading them, then why cant they just not allow my posts to bother them? I guess thats the part I really cant understand which is how can someone let someone elses comments about music on a message board really bother them that much? Dont these people have real people in their lives (friends, family, co-workers, etc) to deal with and confront that they shoudl be spending their time and energy on, instead of wasting it on some schmuck on a message board? I just dont get it. I really dont...

Trust me when I say that only a couple of us (fine, a few of us) pick fights for the sake of picking fights. I personally don't care one way or another what you do (I've actually found a couple of your posts well worth my time), but since there are this many people getting on you... and not all of them follow a pack mentality... don't you think you should rethink the way you're behaving?
You're right... this is a message board. Doesn't hurt to be thoughtful when you're in a community setting, you know.

And I read your advice on how to behave here, but I cant change who I am--nor do I really want to. You know the saying, once a cunt always a cunt. It's just who I am. yeah, I couldn't have said it better myself. btw, I won't be posting here again as long as PEW is still around. I'll only be logging in to send/read PMs. Enough is enough of this shit. I can't believe I actually felt sorry for this scumbag when he was silenced the last time. That's not an ultimatum btw, I'm just sick of it. That said, I don't want him to be banned. If others here think he 'spices things up' by pimping his blog and hurling insults then who am I to stand in the way of their reading pleasure? I'm outta here...

Don't be a gurly-man, Kool! If he bugs you that much, just ignore his posts like most people do. We can't have everybody taking a powder for one reason or another. Perfection is the enemy of the good. Oh, that's Voltaire, too, PEW.
