Muse-Black Holes/Revelations

Muse made the funkiest album of their career and wait for it...

THEIR BEST
yeah it's a tough call between Orgin on BH/R
but i really love the funk and matt's guitar work on this one more

No one but Prince maybe could have created Super Massive Black Hole there wasn't more of a shock all year long when i heard that the first time

i was expecting to be impressed after that and as always Muse delivered frm the pop power of Starlight/Invincible to the space dimension arrangements of Assasin/Take A Bow

But you knew they had a epic in them i knew it and guitar hero 3 did as well

Knights Of Cydonia is the best song muse has completed so far it's a rip-roaring crowd favorite
people cheer the entire time during the performance and when they hit the final bridge people will root them on to the finish
i had never seen that at a live show all 8 min of it

No band took the mantle of space rock and pushed it toward a new directon of hooks and funk
Radiohead left space rock long behind on Ok
MUSE is just finding their style almost 8 yrs in

IN 2006 one band saved commercial fm radio for me Muse was that life-jacket
all other bands post radiohead are just trying to keep from drowning

Standout- Knights of Cydonia-political western where muse find their idenitity and i press replay song on Guitar Hero

Amusement Parks on Fire- Out of The Angeles

The little band i discovered in 2005 made my jaw drop in 2006

Amusement Parks On Fire began as the solo project of Michael Feerick in 2004.

Feerick wrote and recorded ten songs on a minimal budget with close friend Daniel Knowles engineering the sessions. These efforts formed Amusement Parks on Fire's self-titled debut album released in the UK on INVADA Records, a label run by Geoff Barrow of Portishead in 2005.

The band signed to V2 Records in 2005 and went on to record their second studio album Out of the Angeles at Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin studio in Álafoss, Iceland.

The line-up altered to its current state in summer 2006 with the addition of Gavin Poole (Bass) and Joe Hardy (Keyboards). This was followed by a co-headline tour of the UK with US noise outfit Scarling. and a headline tour across mainland Europe and Scandinavia.

The band played in Japan for the first time at the Summer Sonic Festival 2006.

In addition to the second album Out of the Angeles, the band are currently recording a series of limited edition 12" EPs — the first of which, In Flight was released early in September 2006. This was followed by A Star Is Born on the 2nd of April 2007.

The band recently played a short UK tour and debuted some new material, and are currently in Prague recording new material for release in 2008.

after Wolf like me
the polls were closed
i could go about the simplicty of Wash The Day Away
but by now you get it, or you've heard for a year straight
the answer for me is simple of why this is the album of the year

IT make me jealous i could never create art this amazing or complex
which is what being the best of best is supose to drive me insaine
it's so damn tribal and has a beauty at the same time
and you can nod your head in the car the whole time it's playing
that's stupid i know
but not as possably making the best album of the decade
and naming it after mustached plumber

I listened to that TV on the Radio last night and man is it an amazing record.

It was a toss up between TVOTR and The Knife's "Silent Shout" for me for 2006. Both albums really just floored the shit out of me. Great list, pattentank.
