Fair enough Strat, mostly because I'm pretty sure Jon Bon Jovi was there and I'd pretty much prefer to stab that asshole in the eye than any other human that comes to mind readily. I still agree with Pissin' though that the freak in the picture deserves some pain. I'm having a hard time disagreeing with your post Riley. Anyone that wants to do physical damage to Bon Jovi is all right in my book! ;D And if I wasn't so argumentative with Pissin, I might even give him the freak. Oh, btw, where's my fucking chocolate covered donut? (or did ya miss that post?)

DED, the point was that at least the GOP puts it's dissenters right up there on the stage. Where were the Democratic dissenters? Curiously absent, doncha think? Were you as critical of the Democrats putting moderates rather than liberals front and center, as you (and others) seem to be of the Republicans putting moderates rather than conservatives front and center? I don't think so, and that's where my "double standard" remark came from.

I'll admit my guliani commment was snide and pointless...but that guy just seems so fake to me. I don't really expect him to run through all of his beliefs, everybody is there just to kiss Bush's ass. I don't know about the moderates at the DNc...I thought there were plenty. Again the object isn't to challenge the beliefs of others in the party... you already know that though...it's sell their canidate. Personally I think it's kinda funny that almost all of the speakers, including Laura, disagree with him on those two issues. It's not a big gotcha type thing just kinda chuckle to myself funny. It's just that you and chrisfan trot out that double standard argument as often as possible...and frankly I'm amazed that you do it without an ounce irony...but you're just calling 'em as you see 'em, huh?
Usually there are tons of dissenters...man it's miracle when you can get the dems to agree on anything, but even moderates and extreme liberals can agree they all hate Bush.

I hope you guys will tolerate one more self indulgent post. Certainly, to the non-Americans here it means absolutely nothing, and truth be told, to you Americans here, it doesn't mean much more. I just want to make one more final post regarding my union endorsing Kerry. Hopefully for those of you reading this, you caught my earlier posts on the subject. The following I'm posting is from our Local's August newsletter, with two caveats. The first being that I'm only posting the last two paragraphs, for brevity. The first two paragraphs simply reminded our membership that as our elected leaders, it's their responsibility to support candidates who support firefighters, and to also remind us that 1/3 of the IAFF's political contributions go to Republicans. The second caveat is that the next three paragraphs were a reprinted statement from Harold Schaitberger (our International's president) given back on April 22nd, bashing Bush. Oh, and I X'ed out our president's name to protect his privacy (3 caveats I guess). Now with full disclosure for this post out of the way, here's what I want to post: From the President's DeskKerry’s 20-year Senate record confirmed that he was the strongest pro-union candidate in the race. Nevertheless, the IAFF (as well as I) respects its members' rights to form their own opinions about who to support for president of the United States. The IAFF believes that you have an absolute right to vote for any candidate for any office at any level of government. But, the IAFF also takes its responsibility to represent our members very seriously. The decisions on who to support in political elections are based solely on fire service and employment issues — not on issues of school prayer, right to life, the environment, guns, or any other issue that is of a great concern to the citizens of this country, including professional fire fighters. I trust that you will evaluate all the issues and make your own decision on a candidate’s worthiness. But I also believe that every one of you should know the facts about George W. Bush before casting a vote in November. As always, stay safe. Fraternally, xxxxx xxxxxxxx, President Local 116 Most people, and certainly not firefighters, are "one issue" voters, as our union seems to think the membership is. Those stupid yellow tee shirts that read Firefighters for Bush, should read Some Firefighters for Bush. To which I can only add this: Thanks for letting me vent, I swear to christ this'll be the last of this subject from me.

Exactly! That's my point, and you seemed to have missed it DED! My question to you (and the rest of the American liberals) is where were the Democrat conservatives? Again, curiously absent. Again, at least the GOP put it's dissenters front and center (unlike you "tolerant" Democrats). Tonight and tomorrow night will be the time for the more conservative wing of the Party. Where was all this tolerance at your convention? Oh wait...it was goddamned invisible.

My convention...oh my... just becuase I support Kerry over Bush by no means makes me a democrate. I watched just as much of the DNC as I have the RNC...zero. All they're doing is ego stroking their canidates, pointless if you ask me...
My point was that there were moderates there and they gave speeches just like everybody else, in fact the only speech I looked for and watched was Ron Reagon's...correct me if I'm wrong but he's certainly not a hardcore dem...he didn't even talk about Kerry, I'd say it might be the only non-partisan speech of either convetion. We still have two more days though...

Must I refresh your memory from just a few posts ago? Okay, I will. DED: Usually there are tons of dissenters...man it's miracle when you can get the dems to agree on anything, but even moderates and extreme liberals can agree they all hate Bush.Oh, the irony my friend. You brought it up.
