I noticed Marv at the bar towards the end. didn't notice too much else though. Sorry but I think Hartigan would have got his ass handed to him by Kevin. He barely got away from the guards, and he barely took out Yellow Bastard. He only got him because he was so stupid and arrogant. Kevin was much smarter and quicker. And he had claws. I didn't catch the die hard referrence. I probably wouldn't unless it was "Yippy Ki Yi Yay Motherfucker". I thought all the dialouge was taken straight from the book though. SPOILER"Barely"? I remember him shooting the guards that got the drop on him, using two guns (bullet wound notwithstanding). The Yellow Bastard is fooled (thinking Hartigan's wound weakened him enough to not be too much of a threat), stabbed in the chest with a switchblade, suffers a castration by hand and then pummelled by Hartigan's fists into oblivion. He never touches Hartigan. However, if Kevin snuck upon Hartigan the way he did Marv, I agree, he would've got the upper hand. I just like to think that Hartigan, like Marv, would've found a way. The dialogue is taken verbatim from the graphic novels. I think what I should've said is that one scene is reminiscent of the scene in the first Die Hard. Yeah, the characters appear all over the place. Marv can be seen in "The Yellow Bastard" segment, Dwight is seen and given dialogue in the "Hard Goodbye" segment (which is taken from "A Dame To Kill For"), Nancy, Gail and Becky are seen in "The Hard Goodbye", and Lucille (Carla Gugino) is briefly glimpsed in "Yellow Bastard" (she escorts Hartigan to the court hearing where he confesses to get out of prison). The weird thing is, I can remember all of this stuff even though I've seen the film only once.

Yeah it's hard for me to remember a lot of that. Hell, I don't even remember most of their names.

I'm a huge skeptic with Kung Fu Hustle.
Sin City, that's one I want to see again. Looks like the next few weeks will have some pretty cool stuff, though...
Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy Unleashed Kicking and Screaming Star Wars
Can't remember wanting to see that many movies during such a period of time in my entire life.

I'm eagerly awaiting Kingdom of Heaven but I hope the finished product is as good as I hope. I've read that the film's running time has been reduced from 3 hours to around 2 1/2. And the music for that last trailer was horrid. Rented House of Flying Daggers this week. Far more satisfying than Hero because it engaged me emotionally. There's no Rashomon-inspired plot device like in Hero to confuse and distract. Just a good old-fashioned love triangle with terrific action set pieces and one beautiful image after another. Recommended.

Hmmm . . . "Kingdom Of Heaven" is a Ridley Scott film - / ?
That rings a vague bell . . .I'd forgotten about that . . . Still . . . . there's something about it that's just so . . . . "Hallmark Cardy" . . . . or something. . . . Yeah, my exciter meter reading is definitely not "in the red" for that one, despite the swordplay and such.
Looks way overbloated . . .
Hopefully tonite: KUNG FU HUSTLE
Now that looks like serious fun at the movies

...suffers a castration by hand... OK, I ain't seein' this one... Between my mind seeing replays of - Ed Norton's character in American History X making the guy open his jaw on the curb and then giving him a heel to the back of the head... - Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal fry and feed Ray Liotta's own brain to him... - like most of Goodfellas - like much of Scarface - among others I've tried to block since I saw them...but which I'm sure NOW will come back to me... Those top two make me fucking shudder I swear! But seeing portrayals of that sort crazy violence is something which I cannot imagine to be 'healthy'...WhyTF implant that image? Watching my nephew play his 'Grand Theft Auto' brought me to the same conclusion...as much I remember the gamers here defending those images as completely and utterly undamaging and that 'c'mon, NO-one does that!' ...and it's NOT cos I'm squeamish..from one who actually greatly enjoyed 9 months of Gross Anatomy dissections of cadavers(well the first day I was afraid I'd pass out, but after...)where we held in our hands lungs, hearts, brains.... Here it's just the idea of of excruciating cruelty to live human beings...even if whomever had his nuts ripped from him 'deserved' it. ~ Today I picked up 'Bourne Supremacy' and am totally looking fwd to seeing it...same as I was for seeing 'Garden State' when I found it at the library last Friday, BUT returned unseen today, GRRRRrrr. Between Baby Matas...and the Bulls basketball games last week...oh! And my surprise birthday party on Saturday night...weeell, just no friggin time. I also grabbed 'Dodgeball' today, btw...

I've moved back to Fayetteville, AR, where there are theaters showing decent material. And I just got giddy with delight when I read that Steamboy, Katsuhiro Otomo's long-awaited follow-up to Akira, will be shown in town. Kewl. Has anyone else seen this yet?
