Since the first primaries etc. are less than a year away, it's time to formalize this discussion. Who will be the nominees, will the votes actually be counted in Florida and Ohio this time around, and most importantly, when will John McCain actually punch a reporter? ;D
If it has to do with the upcoming election cycle, this is the place to discuss it.

Sounds good to me. Since a couple people mentioned that they aren't really sure what Obama's positions were on a number of things, I thought I'd go ahead and link you here. That page just gives a very brief overview, but if you click on any of the topics, it goes into more depth.

Can we still copy and paste huge articles on this thread? Oh of course you can! As long as they're about the 2008 election cycle.

I think I'd like to see a Obama/Richardson ticket.

I think I'd like to see a Obama/Richardson ticket. I could get behind that. In a perfect world, I might even prefer Richardson/Obama, but either way is really fine with me in this one.

When Obama was running for the Senate, I played basketball with one of his PR guys twice a week. Therefore I'm an expert on Obama. Seriously though, someone was bashing Obama for his plan to get the troops out by March 08 and I actually think the plan makes sense to me on all accounts. Here's why: ~If you are against the war and never thought we should have been there, then you should be for the plan. ~If you want the war to end, but think we have some responsbility to the Iraqis for fucking up their country, then the plan makes sense because as long as we are in Iraq it is impossible to repair their infra-strucure. Plus this puts pressure on the Iraqi government to get a security force up and running within a year. ~if you are a fiscal conservative and are appalled by the 12 million dollars PER HOUR of tax payers hard earned cashed going to support this quagmire, then you should be for this plan. ~If you are an evil bastard and support the war, then fuck you!
13 months is plenty of time for a gradual withdrawal. Also I think Obama is showing balls and being pro-active in getting the conversation started in this area. I mean someONE needs to start talking about possible alternatives to our current stay the course crap; the more talk the more doors that are going to open. Barrack is leading here. Someone has to start a serious dialog about pulling out. The politicians all seem too chicken shit to actually start talking about this in terms of a concrete plan. Obama is the only one showing the balls to do this. Everytime a Dem criticizes Bush, the Right-wing comes back with, "Well its easy to criticize, but lets see YOUR plan." Obama is walking the walk and saying okay mutha fuckers, here's my fucking plan! And that is EXACTLY what we need right now.

I wasn't bashing him for the plan, I just said I don't think it's realistic.

I wasn't bashing him for the plan, I just said I don't think it's realistic. Wel, I've heard others bash it--from talk radio folks to so-called pundits--and it gets my blood boiling. And I also disagree that it is not realistic. John Kerry has already jumped on the bandwagon and started a website called something like SendtheTroopsHOmeNome.com or PullOutNow.com, etc. I'm tired of the rhetoric and the half-assed way this Congress is dealing with this. Polls show over two-thirds of the country want the war to end. That's what the '06 election was all about. So its time to quit pussy-footing around this and just accpeting it. THere is absolutely no reason for our american soldiers to be dying in Iraq. THere is no reason that 12 million of our tax dollars PER HOUR should be going toward this. The faster we stop this idiotic fucking war, the better!!!

Oh Damn! Did anyone see Obama's response to Austrailian PM Howard's criticisim of Obama's plan for withdrawing troops by March of '08?
Holy Crap! Game, set and match to Obama. Not only can Obama take a punch, he can deliver a counter-punch in the form of a knock-out blow. Say what you will, but the man is one smooth cat who just proved to his opponents that "Oh yea, He Got Game!!!"

Just took a quick peek at it, but tell me, how is this plan any different than every other Democrat plan? I dont think Health Care is gonna be an issue until its Democrat versus Republican--and then it should be a fairly big issue (one of the top 3 to 5 issues). All I'm saying is that the Dems all pretty much agree on Health care reform, and most of them are leaning toward universal. But even in Edwards plan it is not provided for free, people still have to pay for it. What I'd like to see is FREE health care for kids under 16.

Here is something Obama is going to have to deal with. In a recent pep rally he said that the lives of the 3,000 american soldiers who died in Iraq were WASTED. You know the Right-wing is gonna jump on this and try to turn it into his "YEEEE-HAW" (Howard Dean)... Now the question becomes how does Barrack handle this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6_vFcW9pZI&eurl=
