If I look at the possible upsides to RS.com being shut down, the first obvious one is that it happened before JLLM returned to his board to find a chat about AC/DC and Van Halen, which some would argue was initiated by yours truly.
I value my friendship with Jesus, so I feel as if I've dodged some potential conflict.

I see more 'welcomes' are due! Glad folks are trickling in! Pull up a stool JLLM, Maarts, Dolly, Kat, Stumpy - I mean Scottsy-, Mellie, Shane, and Clubber! Also, welcome to our silent members. Let's continue to spread the word. I'm sure more will be in tomorrow when they check their emails.
I thought about an msn site instead, but they can be quirky and slow and the registration through passport and all can be a pain. This place is pretty streamlined and it says "unlimited boards and messages" - I guess we may find out what "unlimited" means (dey don't know us vewy well, do dey?) Reg and login is easy, too. There's a bit of a learning curve involved, and I'm getting some ideas about how to better organize the categories/boards/threads. The "forum jump" menu at the bottom of the box is pretty handy.

Hi all! Mary sent out an email today about this place, which should net a few more folks. I was hoping somebody would set up something like this ... who knows, this could wind up being as good or better than RS.com itself!

How come my avatar keeps turning into a red x? Shane, in your profile you must put a complete URL to an online image and can't upload one if that is what you tried to do.

Ken! I was just asking about you on the "Influential Music" boards. Place is in serious need of a thread-interrupting bicycling post.
How goes the new ride?

Hey Bear! Had a great ride yesterday ... unexpectedly strong tail wind on the way out ... flying up and down the hills (stayed in top gear for about a mile at a nice high cadence!), until it got to be time to head back for home. :-(
Once I turned around, it was time for those big comfy gears in back ... lots of huffing and puffing and "shit, shit, SHIT!" working back over those hills. Great workout though, and a lot of fun. Right now, the Bianchi is back at the shop getting a Specialized cycloputer installed (gratis, I guess there are some rewards for spending a small fortune on a bike). The shop owner told me a real horror story about the reliability of the Campy computer, and set me up with this reasonably priced Specialized unit instead (about fifty bucks, I believe). So I plan on taking the bike out later this afternoon, for my first "instrumented" ride.
Still loving it ... wanted to use a picture of it as my image here, but haven't been able to figure out how. Oh well ...

Hola! These boards are great, and hopefully there won't be any spammers/trolls this time around. So how is everyone on this beautiful summer day (at least here in Jersey, anyway)?
