Living under the flight paths of two VERY busy urban airports here, I CAN'T say that I enjoy the day to day convo-stopping ROARs which we regularly get....but when it comes to the annual Air & Water show here, I'm up out my beach chair and screaming 'YEAAAAAH!' when the Blue Angels come HOWLIN' across the lakefront....
I get the same way at the drag strip...it's SO rock and roll, y'see...

Hey kids!
What is your favourite word? it changes daily - my favourite word today is "drench", since it makes me dream of bathing under a waterfall.
What is your least favorite word? cunt
What turns you on? a great smile
What turns you off? pretentiousness
What is your favorite curse word? fuck- just fuck.
What sound or noise do you love? wind chimes, a ticking clock in a quiet house
What sound or noise do you hate? the screeching tires and booming bass of the shitbox car down the street
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? anthropologist
What profession would you not like to do? politician
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? All the RS kids are over by the jukebox...

I really had no idea where to post this, but it's fashion-related so I figured lumen's board was a good place! So I went shopping today, I had to pick up a fairy nice outfit for my dad's 60th bday shindig next month. I ended up with this outfit that is soooooooo unlike me I just had to share. I'm worried about it, and I plunked down a ton of money for it at Anthropolgie, this ultra-chic upscale place were I occasionally browse just to see what the hipster fashionistas are wearing, but I have never ever actually bought anything before. But they had this really striking looking no-sleeve shirt with a plunging neckline that I expected to look terrible on me but actually liked. It's black with a pale blue line going straight down the middle, and then the top of the arms are all pale blue lacework, really intricate and pretty. Very unlike anything I own. Then the skirt that goes with it is very long, beneath the knees (all my skirt are above the knees) and the same pale blue color. It's all in billowing, wavy layers and it's made out of this incredibly light, soft, sheer nylon material. I am excited but a little bit freaked out about wearing it in public! It's such a departure. Sorry, just had to share Cheers, M

See you on the cover of Vogue next month, M. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? All the RS kids are over by the jukebox...
I love it, tunes! That's the best answer to that Q I've seen.

I agree with Howe, tunes, your answer is hands down the winner (if anyone were, um, keeping score...)
I think the outfit sounds very striking M, you'll cut quite the stunning figure in it I'm sure. Sometimes when I buy something I'm not sure about but it just kept calling out ot me, that's when I get a lot of compliments. A departure is usally a good thing, keeps you from getting into a rut. IMHO, of course.

Then there are those departures that never see sunlight. I have more stuff hanging in my closet than I’ve a right to. I’m actually thinking about letting the neighbor in to pick what she wants. Impulse shopping should be outlawed. In my case any way.

Mary, no mid-calf black clod-hopper Doc Martens with that dress, OK?
For once 'ironic tonsorial juxtaposition' can be forgone maybe?

Hard to pass comment based on a written description, but I'm going to, just to nudge one post nearer to Riley on my post count. Dress sounds like a winner M.

Well thanks everyone for the vote of confidence about my bold fashion move! You know, after 5 months of really being very good about finances, and not buying much of anything (only one cheapo CD since January, one pair of boots only to replace a broken pair, and a jacket for Portland back in march...those are like my only frivolous expenses in half a year!) I've managed to entirely blow my finances in a 2-day shopping spree which has virtually guaranteed I won't be able to buy any CDs again until 2005! So yeah, the crazy outfit yesterday at Anthropologie...then I had my hair redone today, the whole shebang - the black and the red - and a new cut. $120. Then, because rocdoc has nothing to worry about and I have no intention of wearing big clunky boots with the new outift - I went and bought a pair of new black sandals, nice and elegant. $80. That's $200 alone today. Plus the outfit yesterday came to $120. That's $320 in 2 days. Plus $30 to pick up my drycleaning and another $30 at Longs Drugs on makeup and nail polish and such, since my hair appointment and recent shopping spree was making me feel all girly. So I've now spent $380 in two days. And I currently have no income, as the school year has ended, and I don't begin teaching until July. I feel like a complete fucking idiot. Rileydog is never going to extend a line of credit to me now that I've revealed my total financial recklessness. But fuck me, I really like these sandals, and I've got funky blue eye shadow and nail polish that match my eye color. That's worth financial ruin, isn't it??? I'm debating debuting the new outfit tomorrow, I've got this coffee "date" (not really a date but if I can turn it into one, that would be nice!) with this guy I'm going to see Mission of Burma with. But I don't know, it's risky. I apologize sincerely for the horrible vanity of the past few posts. Me me me me me. I know. I'm sorry. Someone post something about their recent fashion choices so I can feel less self-absorbed please. Cheers, M

Mary/tunes/lumen et al... I've started a dedicated fashion thread in the coffeeshop section, since the polls on this board often interrupt our discussions on bobs n bangs. Tsk!

Here’s a short lil 2 question poll……. If you were in an aircraft going down
1. What do you think your last thoughts would most likely be about? 2. If you were an atheist do you think you’d suddenly convert?
