The only complaint on the new car is that there are no protective guards along the sides which prevent other car doors from denting my car when other car doors are opened. Will contact my salesperson this a.m. to find out how to have those installed. I find myself parking in areas with no cars to avoid any other car doors from "accidentally" hitting my car.

Those strips are widely available and easy to install. With most of them you just peel a backing strip off a sticky surface and press them on.

Uh, I think I was luckier w/o them on the Prelude,,,LOL But then check out what I drive for work: ....and during shopwork now in the winter while in our downtime of the season, I DO get to go around on all the trucks patching up all the nicks on the stripes. I've become pretty well versed in the cutting, peeling, 'n sticking!

I think my boss watched too many episodes of Daktari when he was a kid.
(damn good advertising every time we're at a job site tho'!)

Well, I now have two cars to my name... In Australia my 1991 Nissan Pulsar still sits proudly in the driveway at my parents place - my dad even polishes it for me, keeps it running nicely, changes oil and filters, etc... I have no doubt my first car is still in tip top shape down there, still being the great set of wheels it always was...
As of three weeks ago I have also owned a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire Four door. Really nice car, a friend sold it to me with full service history books, made sure everything was working right, and has even told us we can bring it back to him if something goes wrong, he's always been a good buddy like that!
A throughly nice car to drive though! A little coarse by modern standards and even by the standards of the year it was released, but hey, it has enough pick up on the highway to make it serviceable, feels safe, and ev en a little fun to throw into a corner now and again! And for a thirteen year old car, 89,000 miles isn't too bad! Still looks nice with only minor scratches of the supermarket parking lot variety, and few touches of light rust which I can patch up in the summer... Milwaukee weather conditions and chipped paint aren't happy bed fellows, I guess...
All things said my new pride and joy stacks up well! Only real bummer is the lack of a CD player, but the sound system fitted standard actually sounds pretty decent, and its nothing an adaptor kit for my mp3 player can't remedy for about 10 - 20 bucks!
I am a happy driver/ car owner again!
But ya know, I still get that irreplaceable urge to take that old Aussie Pulsar of mine on some long gently winding Australian country road, Cds loaded in, nothing for miles and miles... I miss my long drives in that very basic but very fun to drive car (Yes a picture of the Pulsar still lurks on my computer wallpaper too - your first car is always your best remembered one...

That car had just the perfect ride / handling balance, really nice brake feel, and was almost unbreakable - never once did it leave me stranded anywhere, and I went pretty far and wide in that thing...
The only thing that found it wanting was probably engine power, but once you had it going at a fairly good clip it was as much fun as a more pwerful - engined car...
I really gotta get the sunfire on a quiet open road to see how it compares... nothing helps you work out a car like a nice long solo drive...

YES!! 100% ELECTRIC, ZERO EMISSIONS The Vectrix ZEV is the first fully electric bike, it's great for the environment, and its low repair rates are unrivaled. And it goes fast. By fast, we mean zero to 50 MPH in 6.8 seconds. We're not just electric – we're Vectrix. vectrix.com/portal/The Vectrix ZEV (zero emissions vehicle) is fully electric and highway legal. It is claimed to go from zero to 50 in 6.8 seconds. Not bad for a non-combustion engine. At 11 000$, it's not cheap but I hope prices will fall if the demand is large enough ...

Might help unclog some city streets too... always thought it was kinda dumb to see one person driving around in 5 x 2 metres worth of metal in closed and busy spaces like cityscapes... and coe to think of it looking at traffic cams on the news today, I wondered what the hell is going on with so much freaking congestion...
Still, cars are awesome on open, quiet roads, don't let this post suggest for a minute I still wouldn't love to take a car out on soe sweeping backroad and drive the hell out of it... :-)

try the western end of your state, in and around the mississippi river's valley...include down into the neighboring corner of illinois and the driving experience will be very rewarding.
plus you've got the kettle moraines formed by the ancient glaciers' retreat all around you right there. mid-wisconsin way...

scooters in the city don't belong, btw.
motorcycles' near invisibleness (among shitloads and shitloads of cars, suvs and trucks) also makes them prime for someone with a deathwish.
i useta ride, but back in 1976 when i had my brand new kawasaki 500, there was a LOT less congestion in chicago than there is now...

my new/old ride...i needed another beater quickly. 1992 mazda mpv. 3L V-6 which sounded like it purred...well especially when compared to the '87 volvo i was also being offered, down dyer indiana way, while standing in the big auto auctions' parking lot on saturday freezin' my ass off. there's something 'off' with the brakes, tho they did grab up high when you tapped them carefully. i'm hoping it's an adjustment...or just fluid levels. hell, i don't even know how many miles it has, but pretty much everything was 100K+ among my offerings, which incl a mitsubishi (sporty-ish model) and an acura with gangbangers' insignias on the backseat leather. they were all in the $1000 to 1400 range. the guy (friend of a friend) bought 25 cars at auction last wednesday and i asked to see his imports. the mazda cost 1200. *gulp!*my mechanics are checking it out tomorrow as it's being flatbedded over right now.

Congrats on the new wheels, Doc. Looks like a good workhorse. Nice price! Hope she gets a clean bill of health! Will no doubt go a very long time with reasonable treatment.
