And Riley, yeah, they left us the boat. Car too. What can I say, they were pretty generous. Nice folk.

This is very true. There are two wire fox terriers living in my house back home, and they both hunt and prowl just like cats. They kill everything in yard- mice, grasshoppers, snakes, scorpions, the works- and destroy any kind of mouse or spider or any poor creature that comes in the house. They play with them like cats do, too.
One of them actually ate a toad just a few days ago, and got poisoned. His throat was all swollen and he was choking on his collar...all better now, though.
The two Great Danes are great for killing bigger nuisances, especially armadillos. Whenever the armadillos come around to dig in my mom's garden, that's when the danes roam free at night. They've killed probably a dozen of those things.
Me, I fucking hate mice. I get that small pang of guilt when I squash a grasshopper or a spider, yeah, and I could never kill a lizard or anything like that, but I fucking hate mice, and love trapping and killing the goddamn little bastards.

What lovely homes, Tunes and Straw!
I think we're conditioned to hate rats, mice (and roaches) from the eons of competing with them for food and space. Not to mention all the diseases they spread.

That one was taken 4 years ago when they ripped up the road to instal new water and sewer lines ... Started the work 2 miles west and stopped right in front of the house ... Went 1 mile east and came back to connect everything right in front of the house ... We spent that whole summer with trucks and heavy machineries right under our windows ... I thought I would go mad !!!

Nice digs y'all. This is our new place we built 20 minutes outside the city. Photos are a month prior to completion, so I'll have some newer ones with full landscaping and shit soon. Love it out here, but if I see one fucking bear it's over.

Ah, big logs... a phrase that never fails to bring to mind Robert Plant.
Not much to do with houses, but still a punnish link to gardening, methinks.

Cool photos everyone. Right now, I love my new apartment. It takes up the entire first floor of this house built in either the late 19th century or early 20th century. When you walk in the front door, there is a separate hallway area which leads to the living room. The first thing you see though when you walk into the apartment is my Thin White Duke era framed David Bowie poster pointing you in the direction of the living room. Next, the living room is a very good size with hardwood floors. While my entertainment system and cd collection are in place, I am still waiting for the arrival of my new indigo sofa. Once that gets here I will be able to get curtains, an area rug and coffee table hopefully. I also have my framed Kristin Hersh poster, KMFMD poster, and a collection of Cocteau Twins related framed items on the walls. Then there's my bedroom which is huge and also has hardwood floors. The best part of the bedroom though is that I have two (count them TWO) closets! There are also built in bookshelves on one wall that go nicely with my one tall bookcase and one short bookcase. Oh, and the walls are a sage green color. As for the bathroom, I don't know...I have a nice, slightly longer than average bathtub. I also actually have a separate study area with one built-in buffet area where I have placed 5 of my snowglobes. In the study I also have three tall bookcases and one short bookcase. I have my computer desk in here and one of my framed Van Gogh prints (Olive Trees if anyone was wondering). Finally, there's the kitchen. There are a lot of windows and cupboards. Everything works which I guess is good. (I rarely spend any time in my kitchen what with the whole not cooking thing). There is also a nice pantry / storage closet. And I have my framed copy of Sunflowers which I have always wanted in my own kitchen. I must admit that not only do I love my apartment because it is the largest place I have ever lived by myself, but I also love it because it is in this wonderfully quiet, residential, old Southern neighborhood. God bless Columbia. A truly delightful change after where I've lived the last two years in Charlotte. Oh, and did I mention trees? There are huge ass trees everywhere. And I have a front porch with a swing! All right, I'm done now.

Hey, nice new digs, Riley! I imagine that big ass garage will convert quite nicely to extra music storage space at some point.
Man, you really are out in the boonies by the looks of it, aren’t you? I figure the bears'll be waiting at the edge of the clearing for you every time you put the garbage out. Although honestly, I think I’d be living more in fear of the mosquitos than the bears.
