I miss working in a tall building. I used to work on the 35th floor of a great building overlooking the lake and the city. Killer view of the CN Tower too. The view at night was fantastic. ... though, ahem, I think I might have already told you that.

Eh, probably. I think there are some things I've told you repeatedly as well. It happens.
I really do like working in this building though, even if I don't particularly like the job. Downtown is a lot of fun.

Wow, beautiful buildings there, Tunes. Especially the second one. On a nice day, it must be hard to actually go inside, because hanging outside looks awfully nice. I actually don't get to spend as much time in the second one as I used to, which is unfortunate since it's gorgeous inside. It's also really spooky in some areas. But it's situated in a huge park where we often go to hang out and eat lunch during the summer. Oh, and the first building looks nice, but suffers the fate of so many old buildings - mold, asbestos and gross, recycled air. And Phil - yes it is.

And the building on the left is where I used to work - top floor. Man, I miss that place.

Recycled air? You mean those windows don't open? Shee-it, that building really IS old then.

My office is a corner suite....of a one story warehouse-style building. On a street that parallels the Metra commuter train's tracks. The western corridor, Chicago-to-Aurora line...
There's 4 sets of tracks maybe 50 feet from my front door....entertainment of all sorts. Accidents, sadly also suicides, restored steam trains on ocassion, then lots of private rail cars attached to Amtrak engines going god-knows-where out West...
And then maybe 2 miles due east, the tracks enter the World's Largest Railroad Yard....if Neil Young is to be believed. He honestly mentioned this onstage during a CSNY show in 2000 here. Why would he care? He's got an autistic son who he takes on tour with him who's wild about trains....so Neil makes it his business to know. They were out there that afternoon.
Oh! And I physically bumped into David Crosby at the Art Institute Of Chicago that very same afternoon...interesting day. Mighta been my birthday...
Ennnyhow- I occupy maybe one sixth of the ground space this building covers...the rest is a friggin' body shop run by my landlord...1800 square feet done up pretty nice if I do say so myself, in spite of it's very urban setting.
The other side of the tracks is MacNeal Memorial Hospital...we're in the heart of what they're calling 'The Depot District' since there's some sorta historic train station a block and a half away...

52º and the sun is still shining at 5 PM in the City Of Chicago.
Just got back from spending an hour at a local park with my little boy, before my wife took over 'Fun Duty' on her way home...so's I could go back to work at the aforementioned railroad track.
Waitin' on my 5 o'clock patient...sumbitch better show.
Here he is.
Bye

Some beautiful pictures of work environs! This is the view from my office window. If noise from the cubes becomes too distracting, I can close the door and usually watch a hawk on the wing. (Actually, I'm on the other side of the building now, but the view is similar.) I am now 100% unequivocally convinced that I am the only person here who has ever seen a termite. Except maybe Maarts or Kool, where those critters erect giant, beautiful earthen (read: termite shit) structures. No such luck here. They just eat your house and shit sawdust. I guess that visual doesn't really fit in with those great architectural photos. Oops, carry on!

Oh, I've seen a termite or thousand in my lifetime. They're practically the state bug here in FL.

Don't think I ever have seen a termite. Don't think I want to. Logically I should have nothing against bugs, but I have a knee-jerk reaction to fight back a scream catching site of much other than a small winged insect or a daddy-long-legs (which I used to eat when I was small, I'm told, along with carpet fuzz I would studiously collect from the living room floor and munch on while I watched the Smurfs.) My office building is hideous. Typical warehouse, hideous inside and out.

YOu're welcome, Phil.
~
Ok, so I'm trying to figure out the relation of SLC to other cities' POPULATIONS.
slc = 180,000 denver = 560,000 boston = 590,000 NYC = 19 Million LA = 4.5 Million Quebec = 600,000 (roughly) MOntreal = 2 Million (roughly) Porltand, ME = 65,000 (where I used to live until 2000)
!!!!!!! holy moly, this means that Salt Lake has Less Than One-Tenth Percent of New York City's Population!
*mind reeling*
