Top 5 Cool Things About My New House
1.) Across the street from the front porch is an open field and when darkness begins to fall it fills with hundreds of green-glowing fireflies. It's a beautiful sight to see, and when they begin to swarm over into my yard my son has a fun time catching them...just like I did when I was a child... 2.) When it gets really nice and dark I like to lay in my lawn chair and gaze up into the sky at the stars. I never was good at locating constellations, but I can point out the Big Dipper. I hope to see some shooting stars before too long... 3.) My house is not too big and not too small. The last house we lived in was a bit large for us, and I became weary of having to walk down the hall to the restroom...now we've got a half-bath in the master bedroom, which is just a few steps from the foot of the bed. 4.) It's nice to live in a small town because you can pretty much walk to any place you need to be. In the mood for a DVD? The video store is less than a mile away. The library is even a shorter distance (though a disadvantage of small town living is that the library is pretty crappy)... 5.) The layout of the house is just right. My entertainment center is situated perfectly in the living room and the spare bedroom makes a nice "media room", where I keep my musical instrument, CD burner, a few tape decks and the computer.
Not that anyone cares about any of that, but I was so excited to have a board that I wanted to post SOMETHING on it...I'll try and figure out the direction I want the board to go in the next few days, and hopefully some of the Lounge regulars will show up...
Peace, JAC

Good to see you, JAC! Good to see you, too, Howe!! This may not be quite like the original RS boards, but RS didn't really "make" the boards what they were... it was the posters who made them fun... and the same can be done here. Have a good one, all! I've got work to do!

That's what I was just about to tell Howie...that I don't think I have the ability to rename it...plus I was going to say how great it was to see him! I truly hope this is the dawning of a new era, where the past stays in the past and we can all begin anew, as friends hopefully. Strat-0, if you can rename this board, I think I'd like to go with the old standard, JACkory's Insect Lounge. Might as well keep some of the heritage alive, since it's very possible that the old Lounge has vanished into the wind (and hey, that's okay by me, but there WAS some pretty cool stuff in it's first year or so...). STILL haven't got the hang of posting images. Hi, KayJay...Hope all is well with you and yours. JAC NP: The Feelies Only Life (track: "The Undertow")

All's well here, JAC, thanks. To get an image posted, go to the page you want to take the picture from, right-click on the picture (it has to be a jpg or gif image), go to properties, highlight and copy (Ctrl+c) the url address listed for it, and then paste it into the place you want it to show up. If it's for your profile, there's a place there to put the url for the picture. It's a little weird to start with, but by doing it this way the boards here are unlimited because they're not using up any bandwidth other than text. NP: Daydreams[/i] by DNA

Thanks, Kay Jay...I've successfully posted an image, but I'm still having trouble getting that avatar posted. Will it not accept photos from a Yahoo My Photo page? Or am I doing something wrong? Do I need to re-size it myself, and if so, to what dimensions? Anyhoo...I'll keep trying. Thanks.

Well, I had to put up a temporary pic until I can find a proper url for mine to reside on.
Man, JAC, it would be a shame to see some of those "original drooge" posts from your RS board get broomed.
Strat, I forgot to mention -- thanks for the invite!

Hey, ampster!
I gave up on RS after all the spammers and bombers ruined the joint. I'll check in here while it's up, and we'll see what the new RS.com offers after that.

Yeah, when I took their (rs.com's) little poll, the one that was where the boards used to be, my major comment was that they needed to do a better job of moderating, of controlling the trolls and the spammers, when they created the new improved boards. Good to see so many of the good folks (and so few of the bad) have made it here. I liked ekul's analogy of survivors getting together after the nuclear holecaust, drifting together to form a new (better?) society. Or maybe just another internet forum

Congrats on the new house JACK. Sounds like a nice pastoral setting. Get yourself a telescope and learn a little astronomy.

I'm a bit shocked at how quick we mobilized.
Kind of cool how even if someone got missed on an email list, someone else was able to get the word out.
Only a few key MIA's at this point, so hopefully we'll catch up with them in due course.
So true on the natural weeding out of all the bombing silliness this has allowed for.

Yeah, it is pretty cool that we all popped up here like this...
Was gonna post a "top five" about my new apartment, like JAC did his house, but I need to go work out and get a move on with getting shit out of my old apartment...
While I like the weeding out of the bombers and other such dregs, I'm really going to miss Lysergic Aaron. Trust me, JAC, if I was ever really that guy, he'd be on this board in a second.
