Oh, and I disqualified Phil's 6 CD box-set Too fucking right. That'll teach le cheating scarecrow. Why do we have to suffer two REM albums? How is that fair? Tell you what, when we run out of food you can eat me first, especially if Out of Time is due up next.

Oh, and can I change one of my picks? It's not like i've packed yet, so I don't see why not...
I want to replace Unknown Pleasures with Interpol's Turn On The Bright Lights. Some would say it's the same album anyway, but it's slightly longer.

We're going to need a ruling here. I think I see where this is going.
We're all on the island, making the most of our limited musical resources, when low and behold, the fucking holy one walks across water to the nearest fucking HMV because, "I'm not feeling The Smiths today. Back in a flash".
I'm still fine with the switch though, for the record, since I was hoping someone would bring Interpol. Just don't make it a habit there twig in the wind boy.

JLLM - I'll let you change Unknown Pleasures to the Interpol album only if I can be allowed to change the Ride album to Ai No Poltergeist by Mayumi Kojima. I initially avoided Japanese albums because, well, I have no fucking idea why to be honest, but I really cannot bear the thought of not being able to listen to that woman sing - I might as well follow your example and offer myself for food in that case.
No more changes though, for anyone. Although I might make another exception should Riley suddenly decide to drop the Verve and bring something decent instead.

This process of sorting out the desert island collection could get seriously ugly....

In the end, I'll probably just stomp my feet down and demand sexual favors.

Hahahahahahahaha, I think I'll just end up withdrawing my ticket from the cursed ship / plane that caused us all to be stuck on a desert island with only a few our respectively large collections... :-)

I knew that waiting around until everyone else had voted would be the best strategy here. Now I don't have to waste votes on the Clash, the Cure, Sleater-Kinney, or Joy Division (well actually apparently jllm attempted to rescind that vote, but I'm pretending I didn't see that because, hey, it still says Unknown Pleasures on the master list, and I obey the master!)
So with that in mind, I'll bring...
The Birthday Party - Hits Gang of Four - Entertainment! Nina Simone - Jazz Masters
I would just like to note that that particular Nina Simone album came with a little mini-catalog of Verve Jazz compilations called "Desert Island Discs" so I'm pretty sure I've done the right thing by bringing that one along. Because I always do what catalogs tell me.
As for the Birthday Party, consider this a little social experiment. How many times can a group of human beings listen to Mutiny in Heaven on repeat before they all kill each other? Sorta like a Stanford Prison Experiment redux for the 21st century.
Cheers, M

I'm suddenly feeling an urge to declare that REM blows goats, even though I like them. Oh, and if anyone disses Mayumi Kojima, I'll just feel sorry for you and assume you have crap taste in music

REM blows goats.
Nah, not really. And Stipe's voice is fine. Very good, actually. My only objection to REM would be the fact they've been really fucking boring for about 15 years. But that's okay. They keep a lot of middle-aged chaps happy as they commute to their white-collar jobs with Out Of Time blaring out (not too loud, mind) of the CD multichanger. The one with discs by Phil Collins, Dire Straits and the Stereophonics in the other slots.
