So, is it too early to talk football?

We have for us now the highest paid Football coach ever. I wonder how he (Saban) is taking the pressure. I'm pretty optimistic that he'll make a substantial difference but I doubt he'll beat Auburn his first year.

How bout them Mountaineers??? Defeating the mighty Big Blue on enemy grounds! Nicely done boys.
Oh, and them Tigers of Clemson looked alright too. Anyone catch any of the game on ESPN Monday night? Notice the sea of orange? It was a thing of beauty.

Yeah, I saw it. Funny how FSU always starts off in the top 25, then drops out almost immediately. I thought it was great that Michigan dropped out. You're right, Paul. The fact that they defeated them AT MICHIGAN makes it twice as glorious.
Alabama won 52 to 6 against West Carolina and the Montgomery Advertiser's front page already says, "Sold On Saban". Hell, I'll be "sold on Saban" when he beats Arkansas, if we do. That's just absurd that they would put that on the front page when we haven't played anyone yet.

^^^^
The Patriots are looking scary good - the AFC seems to be leaps and bounds better than the NFC.
Melonious, Bama is looking good so far - they got a damn tough road ahead in the SEC, but so for they're making some noise.
Clemson is up to #14 in the latest coaches poll, and IMHO, that is WAY too high. The past two weeks they've played cupcakes, and the Defense has looked pretty spotty at best - they've given up massive amounts of yards on the ground. It's mind boggling that they are ranked this high. Over the next 3 weeks, they play NC State, GA Tech, and VA Tech. If they go 2-1 in that stretch, then maybe they should be considered top 20.
The Redskins impressed me Monday night. They have the Giants this week. I'm really looking forward to Sunday. It's the Nationals last game at RFK Stadium (I'm gonna miss that dump) at noon, then the Redskins v. Giants at 4pm - I'm going to both games. The Redskins are wearing throwbacks that game - the Vince Lombardi yellow helmets and yellow pants.

Notre Dame? More like... Notre LAME! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Sorry... that was uncalled for.
Anyway: The NFC stinks. Except for the Packers. Nice defense there... rough and steady secondary (as a Philly fan, we've had our share of Al Harris), young and bright linebackers, a pass-rushing D-Line capable of neutralizing the run (I know AP got injured, but...), some speedy route-running receivers, and... that one quarterback...
... whatever his name is...
If they ever get a consistent running game (they hinted at one yesterday)... they just might make the Pats or Colts a little anxious in February. Anxious enough to win, however...
... Not counting on it...

I'm a Buckeye fan and I'm willing to say it -- at this point, Ohio State is totally overrated. They got the #1 ranking during the season (and at the end of the season) by default. Tressel deserves a lot of credit for maintaining a top program for as long as he has. But THE top - no. The loss this year made last year's look even worse. The poll voters need to give OSU a break and quit giving them extra points for reputation.

Judging by the whole season every team was 'over-rated'. How many number two seeds went down during the regular season again?
