So what's the best way to pick a favorite team? I don't have one currently.

Poor Miami, losing Ricky Williams. No more shouting "Run Ricky Run!"

Screw Wannstedt, screw The Fish....
Ol' Dave sucked so bad in Chicago for YEARS that the thought of him lucking into his Miami situation can make me physically ill....
Not to mention the Dallas Cowboy ol' boy network working its magic for him.
Hatehatehate the Cowboys vvv much, y'see...allus an' ferever.

eh, i have no problem with dave w. he's run into some bad luck this year, so unfortunately, it'll probably cost him his job. ricky williams, man... what he did is wrong. and he's being way too cocky about it.
always liked the dolphins (because i LOVE marino, imo one of the top 5 qbs ever, with guys like montana and graham)... i hope they do better this year, though i don't expect it. anybody rather than new england... hopefully my ridicuously distant uncle (if you dig threw a million family trees) drew bledsoe will revive his career.

I have a real soft spot for Miami... S is a HUGE HUGE Dolphins fan, and they were the team I watched the most while learning the game. That was while Marino was still around, and I have such admiration for him that I became a fan of the team too. A true gentleman in sport, IMO - his retirement was one of the few sports moments that made me sort of teary!
I don't think poor ole Dave will be around much longer - and I can only pray to the gods of football that Fiedler got miraculously much better since last season. Don't think they're headed towards a great season... but hey, we'll keep cheering nonetheless.

Marino never actually played for Wannstedt, did he?
Oh. And a great quarterback, doubtless.
I think he was already retired before Dave's Chicago-to-Miami greased-rail ride....with the misery which he headed up during his years here, for him to have SUCH a backer in the ex-Dallas coach(can't recall his name, Sooners' coach, right?) who brought him right over to Miami of all places.
In effect telling Chicago, 'Dumbasses. You don't know shit. Y'all just suck, not Dave'....galling, can you say?
And Miami IS a team with a great history and I always was a fan of theirs too....til ol' Dave.

Dave hasn't done them much good, I admit that. I don't remember if he was just starting with Miami when Dan was retiring, or if Dan was already gone... I seem to be thinking the former, since there was word that the two really didn't see eye to eye, and I was sure I heard that might have had something to do with why Dan was coming back as a manager or something... and then a month later, wasn't. Too bad, too.
On one hand, I'm sorry to see Ricky Williams go... but on the other hand, they were relying SO heavily on him that it wasn't even interesting anymore. Get the ball, throw to Ricky. Get the ball, throw to Ricky. All the other team had to do was gang up on RIcky and the Fish never seemed to have much of a chance.
And Fiedler is pretty brutal... but he seemed like a god when he came back from his injury last year and finally relieved of that horrid, horrid QB that took over... can't even think of his name now, but the guy was just painful to watch. Yikes.
Of course, it didn't last long, and Fiedler was back to being pretty crappy again. Still remember hearing the hometown fans boo him - that CAN'T be a good sign, especially after how much everyone idolized Marino.

I have got no idea if anyone is still interested in talking football around here....
Watched the Falcons beat the Rams this morning and I must say that was one very impressive performance- especially in the first quarter. Haven't seen too many teams doing a ten yard-kickoff retrieval after scoring the first touchdown in the first.....

Eh? They did an onside kick in the first quarter? What was Michael Vick like?

Played damn good! Outran most of the defense for a 109-yard rushing total. I''ve always been a fan of qb's rushing or rushing in general (Marshall Faulk as a matter of fact I totally respect- nothing better than a good rush imho!). Hope he has a stellar season, injury free.
Since the only live football match was a 49-match, I consider that to be 'my team', but I also 'adopted' the Panthers last season because of the name and their complete unknowness propelled into Superbowl history...OK, they didn't win but...
