Why on earth is this thread being revived by an Australian and a Brit?! That's a damn good question! And a fucking shame! My home state team has a long history of being terrible (Detroit Lions) but they have started 2-0, and us Michiganians will unsufferably support them...hell, we've been doing it for years! That's the good news...the bad news is that I'm not all that confident in this team...time'll tell. My favorite non-home team has always been the Washington Redskins. I know you either love them or hate them, but they're my team. They've been down for many years, and have a little nazi control freak for an owner, but I have much hope that the great coach, Joe Gibbs, can return them to greatness (as he did in years past). May not happen overnight, but steps in the right direction would be encouraging!

Er...I assume the shame-part is in the fact that there's not a Yank there to set this board on course rather than aforementioned Australian and Brit? But hey, I have ESPN! And Fox! I get live baseball and it's not only the crappy teams but also the better encounters they show. And I like football. Don't know too much of it but I still know enough about it to talk about it. I think the Lions are due for a bit of a run...the Redskins look a bit, dunno if it's the right word but, indifferent? How would you say they line up this year, strat?

I kept passing this by because I presumed this was the 'real' football you were referring to...ie footy. Esp when I saw that maarts was making entries here...
But no! Eclectic bunch of gits here!

Dee-troit is due for a run? Waitwaitwaitmustcomposemyselftoolate*oops!*.......ha-ha-ha-haaaaah!!!
Which is NOT to say my Bears will be much more than background to an Sunday afternoon of drinking bloody marys...that is IF my little boy allows me out of the house... ;D

So it's nice to see that Miami sucks even more than I thought they would this year. Good on 'em. I can't believe Fiedler made it through a whole half a game before they put in Feeley as starting QB. That'd be hysterical if it wasn't so damn depressing. Oh well. Good luck finding a new job, Davey-boy - I'll be surprised if you even make it through the season.

Er, how's S taking this?

S isn't happy, but nor is he surprised. He's been pretty confident that they're on their way to a losing season for the first time in I don't know how long.
But he sticks it out still - not one of those fair-weather fans who only cheers 'em on when they're doing well. Through good 'n' bad and all of that...

Good on him! Although his faith must've been sorely tested by now.....
Watched the Manning vs. Favre-fight this morning. So far I've been lucky with the picks of the live-games- hope they'll pick the Colts-Jaguars next week.... Watched it in amazement and wondered if the defense was so bad or the QBs so damn good...

Gotta compliment ESPN for picking the interesting games out of the weekly NFL-soup...aren't the Bengals the perennial underachievers in the comp?
And Tunes....Steve more happy with his Dolphins this week?

HOLY COW !! That was one hell of a free-for-all during a college football game this afternoon ... !! Those players probably watched(over and over and over again) the Basketball Pros getting all "World Wrestling Federation" with the crowd the night before ... Were those freak incidents or the beginning of a new trend ... ??

Yeah I saw a bit o’ that ball game but what about the North American Hockey League. They’re pulling in like 400 thousand viewers. Fights galore! Guys are paid only a couple of hundred bucks per game & its real old school hockey. I personally could do w/o the NHL.
See the Cup lastnight Phil. Primo for my team. Is it just me or did you notice how “off” The Hip was @ the half time show. Howling cats could give them a run for the money & this is a band I used to like. Still better than S Twain lip syncing. Tunes high five for the Argos girl !!!!

Did they play it outdoors...preferably in a snowstorm...the way football, ESPECIALLY the CFL, is meant to be played?
I saw a Grey Cup on network(and I've written of it at RS before...so stop me if you've heard this, heh.)TV here in the States years ago and it was Doug Flutie quartering the Argonauts in a raging frigging BLIZZARD! It was probably THE most enjoyable football game I ever watched....
Please say that it was outdoors at least...
