Germany/Argentina was fucking boring. Doesn't this describe pretty much all soccer? (Ducks to avoid being hit)

Germany/Argentina was fucking boring. I'm amazed. Each to their own, but I thought it was a brilliant, riveting spectacle with an amazing skill level, settled by two dramatic and wonderful goals in the last minute... and that's not exactly a controversial view - it's being widely hailed across Europe as an absolute classic! The Italians were fucking superb last night, and actually attacked for maybe the first time ever. Clearly they didn't want to take on Jerry at penalties, and quite right too. The first half of France vs Portugal, on the other hand, has been tedious.

really? I thought Klose's goal was nice enough, but the rest of match was a snoozer. Admittedly, I was watching it in a pub w/ a friend I hadn't seen in awhile, so I wasn't giving it 100% of my attention, but I wasn't particularly impressed.
I thought yesterday's Germany/Italy match was much more interesting (at least, the second half and extra time - that's all I got to see).

I thought you said the Germany Italy game was boring. Yeah, Germany v Argentina was a snoozefest played out in searing mid-afternoon heat. Fair point.

The Portugese diving was ridiculous. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Scolari is a disgrace.

Sorry mate! Completely misread your post. I thought you said the Germany Italy game was boring. heh, no worries. I thought that's what you meant, but I wasn't positive. I know I don't catch all the subtle nuances of the game, but you had me worried there for a sec. Didn't watch today's match, but I like the result.

Podolski has been named young player of the tournament. WOrd on the street was that Ronaldo had it in the bag, but the backlash across Europe after his behaviour against Holland, England and France has led to even respected French sports daily L'Equipe asking 'Why does Ronaldo cheat so much?' and FIFA decided he was too tainted by his diving to pick up the award.

I took part in the email campaign to vote for that Ecuador player. Ronaldo was 10,000 votes or so in the lead for the online survey, then next I looked Luis Valencia had about about 80,000 more votes than the Portugese crybaby. Hehe. Anyway, Podolski probably deserves it.
Think it's about time I changed my avatar, actually.

Wow, I really hope this is true. For me he was probably the player of the whole tourney outside of Zidane, Cannefloppo, and Klose, but it's just hard to justify giving him anything after his antics. World class football at its absolute best and its absolute worst.
