This board is tragic. I've never seen such a rogues gallery of footwear ugliness. Hmph. I dig shoes, just not as much as other girls I know. For fall/winter, I tend to just have a few cute pairs in fairly neutral colours, along with two pairs of sexy boots, and call it a day. And I can't justify spending a few hundred dollars on shoes. No Manolos for me, I'm afraid - I'm just not that rich! I always buy more in summer - lots of cute strappy sandals and slingbacks for work. And I get a little more creative with colour - like the ultra-perfect kelly green kitten heels I bought last week to match a bag the boy bought me for Christmas. (told him that pair was all his fault.) (He, of course, thinks I have far too many pairs. He owns exactly five pairs of shoes: two pairs of black Chucks, one pair of navy Chucks, black dress shoes and steel-toed work boots. You'll never catch him dead in sandals, not even in the dead of summer.) So to end my defence, I DO wear girly high heels, and I have some pretty ones that I love - but none of them are as perfect as my Chucks. The end.

Phil, what do your boys like music-wise? Are they getting into your collection? Nope is the answer to your second question except for Eldest Son who've acquired a taste for Johnny Cash ... This is a list of a few bands I lifted from their Ipod ... - Anorexia Nervosa - Black Sabbath - Children of Bodom - DIO !! (Second Son's most recent fixation ... - Gamma Ray - Hanker (local Band featuring one of the kids' High School Teacher) - Helloween - Hypocrisy - In Flames - Kreator - Mercenary - Nymphetamine - Sonata Artica - Savatage - ... My guess is they're both pretty much into Heavy-Duty HEAVY Metal ... !!

Hé ! It makes for very interesting car trips where the deal is we get to listen to each other's music in equal time ...
Not fair really because I don't get out of my way to make them listen to "Yellow Submarine" on a loop !!

Do you like any of those metal bands? Black Sabbath is bad ass, but the rest of that stuff gives me a headache.

Speed Metal is REALLY not my forte ... I bought the first two Black Sabbath albums when they were released but Heavy Metal was never a big hit with me as I discovered Jazz pretty early on in my listening "career" ! But I must say that Eldest Son made me a mix of some Opeth music I really like ...

wow, your kids rule. I saw Children of Bodom live. I sat in a corner & didn't move the whole night, for fear I'd be crushed by a gigantic black metaller.

I've decided now that I'm debt-free, I'd like to take out a massive personal loan (banks love me, I haven't been out of debt since I was 18).
I wanted to buy a motorcycle, but I'm scared of crashing, so I've applied to do my Masters. And I've been accepted. Good lord. Now I have to do it...and I don't think I want to.
Does anyone have their Masters, or is doing it, or contemplating? My boyfriend is in the midst of gaining his PhD & he said "Masters? Heres a knife, gouge your eyes out of their sockets now...silly"
hmmm.
/end crisis

I guess it was the chance to specialise in something she finds fascinating. She had to work hard, but now she has a great job in London doing research on genes. I was signed up to do a Masters in the September just gone, but I'm pleased I didn't as it was just career progression and not something I really wanted (not that particular Masters, that is). I intend to do something in Economics a little further down the line.... What is your Masters in, Layla? I assume it's something to do with Psychology.

la, do it! i'm thinking about going for le masters now, too, in art therapy...then another in good ole interdisciplinary studio art with medium emphasis on theory and lit... get stipends! make THEM pay for ALL of it! and dolly, as for not being sure if an "arty" degree counts on the scale of rigosity (is that a word?), *restrains* just be glad i'm not going off on a thick diatribe about that common misconception right now....
