Not to tread on CWA's territory or anything...he gets all due credit for this classic ol' rs.com thread... but it just seemed like a necessary part of the community, ya know? And I have no idea when he'll be back...
In the meantime here's a random top 10 list to get things started....
10 Great Songs About Death
1) Leonard Cohen - Who By Fire 2) Nick Cave - The Mercy Seat 3) Metallica - Fade to Black 4) Johnny Cash - Long Black Veil 5) Concrete Blonde - Tomorrow, Wendy 6) Diamanda Galas - There are No More Tickets to the Funeral 7) The Replacements - The Ledge 8) The Adverts - Gary Gilmore's Eyes 9) The Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out 10) Marty Robbins - They're Hanging Me Tonight
Bonus #11: Motorhead - Killed by Death (so gloriously moronic, how could I leave it out?)
Apologies for the slightly morbid subject matter, I was trying to think of a list I definitely hadn't done yet!
Cheers, M

I think he at least knows the boards are gone. He was the first to email me. He must have access to his UAlberta email from Amsterdam.
Cool list Clubber. Some of my Nirvana faves on there.

Yeah, I've exchanged a few e-mails with him since he's been in Amsterdam. Having a damn good time, he is. Dunno how happy he'll be to see that Blaney has set up his one and only claim to RS glory, though...

Top Two Worst Songs On The Radio
I hear these two songs on the radio all the time when I'm in the gym, which is the only time I hear the radio. They're so godawful, and they get so much play. They are:
2) Jet- Cold Hard Bitch
Hoo boy does this song suck. Worst thing about it, though, is that the first time I heard a Jet song, I didn't really like it, but I thought they had potential. Well, that "thought" went right down the tubes when I heard this piece of shit tribute to AC/DC and Nazareth. What a godawful fucking song. I didn't know who it was at first, I thought it was one of those really aggravating clone guys, but no, it was Jet. That dude sounds like the biggest pussy when he sings, and I can't stand their trendy little "I'm gonna be an old-school rockin' roller" bit. Awful.
1) That miserable song where the guy goes "AND WE SIIIINNNGGG" over and over again
I didn't know that music could sink to this level. The phony wannabe hardcore kids trying to sing all tough about getting their pansy little hearts broken. I've always had a thing against songs that try to be tough but are about sissy subjects. Nothing worse than some douchefucker trying to hide the fact that he's singing a love song. I saw these guys' video on MTV2, and boy, they look exactly like the pansies you'd expect them to be. All skinny and wearing tight jeans and putting too much gel in their hair and wearing make-up and wearing fucking cuffs on their wrists. Jesus Christ, what a useless goddamn fashion accessory for a dude. If it doesn't have a goddamn clock attached to it, get it off your fucking wrist, shitface. And in the video, I think they're all shouting in the rain and stuff. What a bunch of candyass losers. I hate mallpunks, if Hitler would have built camps for them instead of Jews, I'd shave my head and get a swastika inked on my ass.

Aw shit, I didn't know CWA was coming back so soon. I hope he doesn't totally kick my ass for stealing his board. (good thing for me he has repeatedly been identified as the wimpiest poster on rs.com!!! ) Well in any case, I needed an outlet for my pathological need to create strange top 10 lists about all manner of topics. Like this one.... 10 Great Books About Political Disillusionment1) Judith Shklar - After Utopia 2) Bernard Yack - The Longing for Total Revolution 3) Susan Buck-Morss - Dreamworld and Catastrophe: The Passing of Mass Utopia in East and West 4) Peter Sloterdijk - The Critique of Cynical Reason 5) Hannah Arendt - The Human Condition 6) Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer - Dialectic of Enlightenment 7) Michael Roth - The Ironist's Cage: Memory, Trauma, and the Construction of History 8) Herbert Marcuse - One-Dimensional Man 9) Derrick Bell - And We Are Not Saved: The Elusive Quest For Racial Justice 10) James Baldwin - The Fire Next Time phew. got my dork fix for the morning. Cheers, M

Mary, I have a feeling you are one of the first ever to post 10 books about political disillusionment!!..but if you want to get disillusoned (read: disgusted) read Woodward's 'Shadow' about the legacy of Watergate on the five subsequent Presidents (up to Clinton)...my gawd, the shennanigans in the white house!!!!
