I was being sarcastic.
I would like to visit the U.K. someday, but I don't think I'd want to live there. The weather alone would depress me. I do love those fabulous accents though, and I think it's funny when British people curse ("Fook off, ya bloody wanker!").

Wondering if my last post came across a bit snippy. Wasn't meant to Ryo, especially as I'm all mellow now after me apricot and almond face pack.
I'm not seriously into British supremacy or anything - especially as Canada probably has the edge over everyone right now. Just recommending a couple of new British albums to those on RS who might not come across 'em otherwise. That's one of the things about this site, finding out about music across the continents. I doubt Razorlight will be everyone's cup of tea, but imho it's a good album, worth checking out if you like British punk and indie music.

Three more posts, and you won't be a junior member anymore! ;D
About the weather, I was actually referring to the fact that the sun doesn't come out much in the U.K. Even in the Northeast, it's sunny sometimes, even during the winter. But in Britain, it always seems like it's overcast (even though I've never been there).

well, it depends on your definition of overcast. my friend had visited over the summer before doing the year abroad thing with me, and she said, when you see partly cloudy, over here, its a clear day. the sun doesnt come out much, true--but when it does, its absolutely beautiful. really makes you appreciate it more....

JLLM - I stand duly chastened. The points I made were about current Brit music obviously. In the end, I probably prefer UK music over US music - it's just that I'm not really infatuated with all the new bands that are coming out of there at the moment. But that could change anytime, and who knows, all those new Brit bands that I (not as euphemistically as I hoped, apparently) expressed my distaste for could end up making me swallow my words a few years down the line by recording an album that'll blow me away. Anyway, I'd be wary of being judgmental towards music from somewhere you don't live in. Not because of some stupid inclination to be pc, but because it's simply impossible to really know about the music from any given country/region unless you're actually there. I obviously have a whole can of issues with this, living in a country whose music is grossly misrepresented internationally (I'll be fucked if downy aren't infinitely better than all the new British bands that are currently being hyped up), and the fact that Scottsy and maarts constantly go on about Australian music, Riley and Drum about Canadian music, and strawman about New Zealand music should also stand testimony to this. Of course, things are going to be somewhat different with America and Britain, but still, no matter how much you may think you're in the know about music produced by your friends from across the Atlantic, it doesn't change the fact that you're pretty much at the whim of what a) the local labels choose to sign, b) the local record stores choose to import, or c) the local media choose to report on. Which is precisely why I limited my complaint of current British music to the stuff that gets exposure here (Japan) instead of current British music in general. In all honesty jllm, I wouldn't have said anything about it if not for your quip towards American music earlier. Oh, and just to clarify, my low opinion of Razorlight has nothing whatsoever to do with the NME. Now, I know that I prefixed NME with the f-word when I mentioned them, but I don't really hate that magazine - because I don't read it. I was simply venting my frustration towards the Japanese media, and no, if they didn't praise Razorlight, I still wouldn't like them. And damn it, don't you dare make any snide comments about my beloved Delgados!!!

I'm also a bit surprised that no one gave an "amen, brother" type of reply to my comment about rock critics being shit.
