Surprisingly, there are no Social D dates yet scheduled for San Francisco, though I'm sure there will be. But even so - where's the adventure in that?!? FWIW, weather in Toronto in late October is impossible to predict. Last year, Steve and I gave out Halloween treats while sitting in shorts in our driveway, drinking beer... the year before it was freezing and pouring rain. And yes, snow is not completely unheard of. So basically, pack a bit of everything you own. I just heard the Libertines for the first time ever yesterday, and I have to admit to being pretty interested. Were you guys talking about them recently? Was that what brought on the big argument about British vs American music? Cuz not that I'm trying to bring it up again, but I really did like what I heard.

I think the argument was brought on by me being a stirring little shyster, and Ryo objecting to Razorlight storming the Japanese hipster set, rather than any debate on the Libertines. Good stuff innit? Like I said, no self-professed fan of punk music should be without a working knowledge of the two Libertines albums.

Yep, really liked it, Jesus. It was their latest album - a friend of mine at work bought it and lent it to me over lunch... which is helpful, because they were a band that I had heard a lot about but never actually got around to checking out. Then last night, S tells me that he actually has their first album... go figure. How did I not know that?

I'm really into that new Libertines, but I think I'm gonna buck the trend here and say that I still like Up The Bracket more. Not much, and it might go away, but for now, yeah, I do.

I dunno tunes. Maybe because he has a disgustingly huge collection?
I prefer the second album, though that may be simply because I've listened to it a lot more, and the title track to "Up The Bracket" is a classic, I'll admit.

Up the Bracket, What a Waster, The Good Old Days...I dunno, nothing on the new album has struck me like these have. Think it may end up being a case where I find the second album more solid, but all my favorite songs are on the first one. Kinda like OK Computer and The Bends.

Hang on a minute, "What A Waster" isn't on my copy of Up The Bracket. Bastards.

Yeah, nothing's as good as "The Good Old Days", on reflection. You're right ekul, Jedi mind control master.

But if you've lost your faith in love and music oh the end won't be long
I dunno, that lyric is cheesy and beautiful all at once and just kinda chokes me up every time, even when I loop the song.
Wasn't What A Waster released as a single or on an EP or something in the UK first?
But oddly, I just looked over on AMG, and apparently I have the "Bonus Tracks" version of the album. Dunno how that happened. It's got What a Waster tacked on at the end, and some hidden track.

I dunno tunes. Maybe because he has a disgustingly huge collection? Yeah, I guess that might be it. Since I haven't heard the first album (and only gave this one one listen), I don't have an opinion... but for what it's worth, the friend who lent it to me says he really digs this one but still likes the first one better. And, well, basically, I take his word as truth, if only because he's getting married in December and riding an elephant to meet his bride, and I'll be damned if that's just not the coolest thing I've ever heard.

At least we got the woman's arse on Is This It I suppose.
I'm downloading What A Waster at the minute. Thanks for the tip.

C'mon, now, no one makes me hotter for gay sex than Dave Gah...
Oh, um, I mean, yeah, wearing my sleeveless Slayer shirt to school today, gonna show off my guns and maybe get in a fight with the football team.
Jesus, I was under the impression (thanks to AMG) that What a Waster is what broke the Libs in England. Eh well.
