Got something too feeble for your diary? Stick it here, out of the way.
For example, this entry that Riley wrote earlier today on a stray Post-it note:
Feb 3rd, 2006
Gag counter: 17 quips. Only 14 of them hilarious. I would say "must try harder", but I still beat JLLM to last year's Funniest poster award. so who gives a fuck?
Weight: At least 3 pounds. It was a hell of a struggle, but I showed it who the boss was after a triple flush.
Photos: 36. One of them may not be my best angle though. Will replace later. Note to self: don't go with the one of me buggering the alsation.
Dear Diary,
I'm worried that Dolly is on to me, the bitch. I can never be with Jesus while she's alive. Perhaps I'll cut her brake cables. Or maybe I'll use my Broken Social Scene 1000 Reviews Death Attack Combo... No, I'm just being silly. I'll go watch Brokeback mountain instead. Again.

Perhaps this is a good moment to mention (since I've just been guilt-tripped by my partner who says I've gone too far this time - bah) that Riley has already got my vote in the bag for 'best poster' at the forthcoming awards.
Fuck. See. Now look what she made me do.
Anyhow, come on folks. What have you got to show?

Okay, sad man.
Speaking of diaries, I grabbed Go Ask Alice off my bookshelf last night. Wife had to read it in high school, told me about it, I decided to read it. I was sure the thing was phony, because so much of it was so overdone and ridiculous, so then I look it up on Wikipedia this morning and, lo and behold, it's a total fucking sham.

Go Ask Alice was the product of Beatrice Sparks, an author who has come out with a number of "teens who saw their lives ruined by their bad choices" offerings, each one presented as a true story, often in the form of a diary of an anonymous teen:
It Happened to Nancy (she's dying of AIDS)
Annie's Baby: The Diary of Anonymous, a Pregnant Teenager
Treacherous Love: The Diary of an Anonymous Teenager (teen girl is sexually taken advantage of by a teacher)
Jay's Journal (yet another diary, this one of a teen boy who turns to satan worship and drug use)
Almost Lost: The True Story of an Anonymous Teenager's Life on the Streets
Kim: Empty Inside: The Diary of an Anonymous Teenager (eating disorders)
What ?
No book on the evil of homosexuality was ever discovered ??
I'm shocked !!

Kim: Empty Inside: The Diary of an Anonymous Teenager (eating disorders)LMAO !! LOL. That's funny. I also feel really guilty now after chomping my way through a tub of fried chicken, cheese dippers and a cadburys creme egg. I've never heard of this Alice diary thing.

Didn't a study recently find that Wikipedia has fewer errors in it than World Book or something?
Anyway, I went into the book thinking it was real, but soon came to understand that it was total bullshit. Selling acid to 9 year-olds? Please. I know it was the 60s, but c'mon...
So yeah, looked it up this morning. It's an easy read, though, and it's kinda funny in places. Picked it up yesterday, read about half of it, will probably read the other half today. The diary format is somehow compelling. The book is clever in that it never comes off as anti-drug so much as "what a stupid, weak-willed bitch." And man, it really had me buggin' for some acid last night. The way she described that shit really brought me back.
