I'm listening to impeccable blahs....say hi to your mom youtu.be/C2e1dkuAUJ0these fangs, so cool...then every shtym album is cool...... Outta the Ballpark!! Tune is great and the vid-montage is fucking off the hook! (did I just use that term?) I'd play it for mom too but with her recent dementia....well, wait a minute --- the clip would probably play even better for her! ....forgive me,,,,,these days I sometimes have to reach for dark humor dealing with all this....

the most wonderful summertime music. dale krantz is one hell of a great blues shouter in the vein of bonnie bramlett with a twist of janis to her. basically this is skynyrd with a chick singer taking ronnie van zandt's place.... a very good chick singer singing in more of a honky tonk style, owed to the prominence that the great (and late) billy powell takes on these R-C band songs. great stuff.

A seven year old who would love the Rossington Collins Band?
A rare bird you got there, Sawbones.
Maybe by the time he's ten he'll have moved on to the Atlanta Rhythm Section.

I'm curious, is there a reason you strike out the "t"s in http? Seriously, I can't figure out why you would need to and I'd be grateful if you could explain.

hm. well, my son hasn't heard the rossington collins yet (nor is there a video to it), but i was referring to the youtube that straw posted (and don just commented on) with all its hilarious pop-culture references but it starts with a 'fuck you' in it's first frame and several more (let's just say) 'rude' things sprinkled throughout that i'd rather he not see just yet. ie george bush flipping off the camera et al. there's all the 'funniest video' sports bits he'd love, but nah, i'm not going to show him this.
but yeah, he IS way hip musically. and if i play ARS for him it, won't be champagne jam. he's definitely more a danko jones/monster magnet/acdc kid right now.
oh, and i knock out the 'live' link capability by changing a couple characters, so a google search is less likely to lead someone here. especially bad if it's a link to a download. it's weird but people who've gone to the trouble of uploading a bootleg they've recorded somewhere often don't like having their shit spread around too much....at least not without giving them some sort of credit. ^ there's a whole site full of that sort of stuff, along with some studio bits and pieces. imagine, record companies OFTEN shut down blogs over stuff like that being 'seeded' further on down the pipeline.

101. Taped intro 102. Black Country 103. One Last Soul 104. Crossfire 105. Save Me 106. The Battle for Hadrian's Wall 107. Beggarman 108. Faithless 109. Song of Yesterday

Burnthis is one serious fucking supergroup. and finally i find a well-recorded bootleg of them. VERY bright and trebly, but that can be toned down. that's WAY more acceptable than the opposite, all over-dolby'd - it sounds fucking EXcellent right now. sherinian is one of my favorite players and as usual, he sets off whomever he's playing with perfectly.

Sounds like an interesting video...I look forward to checking it out. "Champagne Jam"...haha. Couldn't you just format the http link into the post, would it still be accessible then? If not, I suppose that's as good a reason as any. I know of several blogs where you can get bootlegs and that kind of shit...I'm talking HUGE collections of boots from just about any act you can think of. I did a shit load of music blog trolling the last couple of years, I'm surprised my CD burner on the old VAIO didn't explode. Had a few rules about what I would actually download, my own little set of ethics that took into account my age and the probability of every being ABLE to pay for an album as well as a clause which allowed me to dl any album I ever owned in my life that I no longer have (and that is a LOT of them). I figure I've already paid for it, you know? I'd still have it if I hadn't of needed some grub money when I was out on the skids. Now I've got it back, everything is settled. Would NEVER download a record that was less than a couple of years old. That's a no brainer. Also wouldn't dl stuff from bands I knew were struggling or up and coming, etc. But a Sonic Youth album that reached it's saturation period 3 years ago? Those guys don't need my money. It's mine. Appreciation of the art should be worth more than any money that might be made, especially in my case, when it's either appreciation or nothing, no fault of my own. Bootlegs are A-OK regardless, and any artist who has a problem with someone dl'ing a bootlegged concert of theirs should have their guitar taken away from them. Not quite as easy on unreleased tracks or demos and that sort of thing, but when push comes to shove I'll give it the green light. After all, I'M not the one who told them to leave it off the record, am I?

ditto me that.
viz:
Now playing:
Quicksilver Messenger Service - Babylon (The Third Eye Bootleg, 1990s) I can't really add much to the body of knowledge about Quicksilver Messenger Service other than telling you that they are in my Holy Trinity of favorite 1960s San Francisco bands which also includes the Charlatans and Moby Grape. I'm also a huge fan of John Cipollina, who was one of the most extraordinary rock guitarists of all-time. Just listening to him tune his custom Gibson SG would even be interesting to me. The band's eponymous first LP and the live Happy Trails still sound as fresh to me when I first discovered Quicksilver about 20 years ago.
Babylon is a collection of demo and alternate versions of songs that would for the most part appear elsewhere in more polished form. Although the excellent two-CD Unreleased Quicksilver Messenger Service: Lost Gold and Silver features several of these same tracks with much better sound quality, there is still enough material here that doesn't seem to have been compiled elsewhere to interest completists such as myself. The performances probably date from early 1968, before the release of their first album, up to mid-1969 during the recording sessions of Shady Grove.
"Codine" seems to be a bit different and shorter in length than the version that appears on the soundtrack to Revolution and may be an alternate take. "Your Time Will Come" and "Who Do You Love," which both feature the vocals of occasional member Jim Murray, appear on Lost Gold and Silver in much higher fidelity. "Too Long" is an earlier version of "It's Been Too Long," which opens the second side of Quickilver's first LP. As with the aforementioned two tracks, Murray handles the singing duties and blows a little harmonica as well. "Walkin' Blues" was cleaned up and placed on Lost Gold and Silver with better sound quality. Although "Dino's Song" and "Acapulco Gold & Silver" seem at first to be the same as what is on the aforementioned official comp, a closer listen will reveal some key differences. "Dino's Song" is a different mix that features an organ and different guitar bits from Cipollina, while the whistling and harpsichord in "Gold & Silver" are buried so low that they are nearly inaudible. "I Hear You Knockin'," possibly recorded during the sessions for the Revolution soundtrack, is identical to what appears on another fine two-CD Quicksilver anthology, Sons of Mercury. I've heard these demo or alternate versions of "Light Your Windows" and "The Fool" on other bootlegs with material from sessions for the band's first album. The fascinating splicing of out-takes of earlier attempts at "Calvary," which display a strong Ennio Morricone spaghetti western soundtrack influence, made its debut on Babylon and was also included on Lost Gold & Silver. The concluding four pieces are probably all demo versions of tracks from Shady Grove, although "Edward, The Mad Shirt Grinder," while still showcasing Nicky Hopkins' manic piano playing, does not have the organ overdubs heard on the album version.
While hardly a desert island disc, this will still be of interest to Quicksilver Messenger Service fanatics. Happy trails.

i absolutely LOVE john cipollina's style of playing...it is SO often with astounding regularity absolutely goosebump-inducing to me, more often than perhaps even jimi hendrix...a strong perhaps because after all jimi is jimi. he just skates around a musical idea so beautifully. slashing, picking, strumming, playing a truly expert slide guitar as well... in addition to this, i've also just acquired a 3-disc set of outtakes from 1975 when quicksilver original players had reformed with an idea to record and tour after 4-5 years of their singer dino valente co-opting the quicksilver name for himself. the valente quicksilver wasn't bad either, tho he's a bit of a love-him-or-hate-him singer. i find he's also capable of being an excellent foil for cipollina (and gary duncan's) wonderful playing but (possibly because he's several 'tokes over the line sweet heyzoos') he also will sometimes go painfully beyond his range and get vv fucking shrill. but when he's on, he is ON, holy shit. and with the criticism, you've got to give him the consideration that his 'body of work' goes across a good 15-20 years recorded work with QMS, then with whomever he sang with, so there WILL be an aging process fucking with his pipes/range as well. bottom line, artistically and viscerally, imo QMS positively MURDERS the easy-going g dead AND their other peers from SF, the airplane.

holy fucking shit! al di IS the best, bar none.
tho this is NOT a 1981 show, and i hoped it was...i dl'ed the thing last night and didn't notice that even the file itself said july 2nd 1978...i've had this for years already but as a long island radio station FM broadcast, albeit STILL in pretty shitty quality. what makes THIS interesting is that it's an audience taping, again NOT of great quality (tinny as fuck actually), but hearing the audience react to dimeola is SO fucking cool here. that WLIR tape muffles 90% of the audience out of the recording, here, people are like me saying 'holy fuck did you SEE that?' and simply cheering dimeola on SO enthusiastically. his 'elegant gypsy' disc was a fucking mindblower for me when i heard it at the time it came out, taking a latin-based santana-ish style and ratchetting it up 3-4 steps, all VERY percussive and rhythmic....and in a far more sophisticated fusion jazz vein. one of 2 or 3 albums in my lifetime which i can say 'changed my ears'.

i've gone on and off rundgren and utopia for years. i'm guessing it's almost a bit too clean for my tastes within todd's pop stylings. but i'm listening to this one, i could almost imagine adrian belew in his studio days, albums that i REALLY dug.. exact same vocal range and timbre and todd can be one fuck of a great player too, except he rarely squonks out the way belew does. i might not choose to put on something like this in september, but for a hot summer day this fits the mood. just enough of a bit of beach boy harmonies mixed in here for summer pleasures...

He shouda opened with this one:
....hey, if it was good enuff for Jerry Lewis..... Seriously though, how often do you get to see Todd solo like that? And it DOES make me think of Belew when I saw him in a bar here in town touring with The Bears. It WAS a good show mind you but I just wanted to see him get off and it was mostly more on the poppier side of things. After a lengthy first set the band took a break...when the lights went back down, out came King Crimson's "RED" for an opening song ---- THAT was worth waiting for!

great rec of Trey and the boys. I don't care for their surf sound, but the elec saz work is pretty nice. I think this is the rec with Eyvind Kang, too, who is pretty damn fantastic
enjoy!

comments not mine but from the uploader's site. very eastern vibe going on throughout this show, but SO very musical. not necessarily going for any sort of a 'trance' state. a flac recording on a single megaupload DL, about 500+ meg that went smooth as silk. on request, because that site has got TONS of cool shit. fuck if i'm giving it up too easy, HA!

pretty tough to pigeonhole this band. i'll try - say, the ability of a porcupine tree with the ability to groooove relatively naturally. i do like.
