i saw these guys witten up on the day-by-day schedule for this wkend's \ pitchfork fest in the chicago reader and thought they sounded interesting. now i dig the shit out of them.  |

 Merged this longtime favorite with the Europe 72 Volume 2 release from a few years ago into a Spotify playlist, sat back and wished I was still a stoner. That said, the experience of "straight listening", though admittedly a different one, nevertheless yields pleasant results that are every bit as satisfying in their own way. |

That plus the fact that his candelabra is solid gold. I would love to live in a world where a true talent like Liberace is not scorned and poked fun at by youth. Seriously, though, I love that old "easy listening" music...Percy Faith, Mantovani, Ray Conniff, 101 Strings Orchestra, I find real enjoyment in hearing how pop tunes of the times were arranged for strings. Actually Airstream is not really the best choice for the more authentic "beautiful music". They tend to mix a lot of Quiet Storm and really smooth slow jazz to give it a more "modern lounge" feel. Instead you're better off with Sophisticated Easy Sounds. Probably not a whole lot of the Liberace/Richard Clayderman stuff, more in the "elevator music" mold, but that's what I like. |
