...seems like after I go through a couple of days of a headbanging phase, then it's onto female singer-songwriters for like WEEKS. It's been Lila Downs, Allison Moorer, Mariza...then Emmylou....with Caetano Veloso a couple of times in between. Tho his high register sure SOUNDS easily as tho there is a woman singing in a number of his songs... I think I'm gonna have a hankering for some Tool after this...

Ha, isn't that the truth doc! have to cleanse the palate every now and again after listening to one specific type.
(n/p: Cannonball Adderly Quintet "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" with the great bluesy title track by Joe Zawinul -- and he went from playing the keys here to Miles' "In A Silent Way" a couple years later!)
DOC: do you know of a Chicago band from 15 ys ago or so called The Insiders? "Ghost On The Beach" was an album I was listening to the other day -- had some fair stuff on it. I know WXRT doted upon them back then.

Oh yeah! I loved the Insiders....I actually once went to the Sheffield Garden Walk by myself(when no-one else wanted to go)to see them....I could swear that they're doing a re-union show somewhere around here pretty soon.
I know that a couple of their members went to Cathy Richardson's band(she's the one who starred in the 'Dear Janis' bio show that went to Broadway a couple of years ago....then the late Laura Branigan took it over)...and their leader, Gary Somethin-or-other opened up a recording studio and didn't perform for years...
I've got a really good 'XRT Unconcert of them, on tape somewheres....THAT's why I have to get the software to burn cassettes and vinyl to CD!

Remember Love Like Candy by them? It's been a couple days since I heard it and I STILL can't get that song out of my head! (BTW: Gary Yerkins was the guy's name....dug out the lp jacket...)
Speaking of Chicago bands, I'd also love to get my hands on a CD of The Kind -- especially "Pain And Pleasure" -- have you ever seen such a thing? From what I've dug up on the web, it doesn't look like anythings ever been put on disc by them.

Acoustic Junction - My favorite "hippy jam band", ever. "Strange Days" --- their last album "Love It For What It Is", pictured above first, is their debut. It is freaking beautiful. More on Acoustic Junction: www.arielpublicity.com/acoustic_junction/

That Acoustic Junction definitely sounds like something I'd like....I guess depending on the guy's voice... Tho the Graham Nash connection impresses...IF they hold off the syrup just a bit... This afternoon: Has Wallinger fallen off the face of the earth? Tho....his last one was not one of my favorites. Tho wait...that maddening as hell "Is It Time?' was on an earlier disc... HAS anyone heard that 2000 disc? 'Dumbing Up'? ~ Oh. And I remember The Kind playing around town, but I honestly don't remember hearing any of their stuff....

I have Dumbing Up. It has it's moments but I didn't like it or Egyptology nearly as much as any of his first three records.

Oh. And I remember The Kind playing around town, but I honestly don't remember hearing any of their stuff.... I bet if you hear the first 2 seconds of the song "Loved By You" off their first Doc, you'd recognize them instantly! It was all over Chicago radio in the early 80's.

(betting on "Ordinary World" with the DuranX2 -- and it IS cool to see Icehouse mentioned; I followed them for a bit. "Street Cafe" is still a favorite tune.)
