"talent" is oft overrated . . . but I will agree that later CC lost it . . . no more than candygore coated comicbook kiddy crap, nowadays. give me terrorizer, phobia, CryptopsY, EntombeD, any day of the week over CC Are you saying that Cannibal Corpse actually had anything to lose? Jesus, if I want to hear barking dog vocals, I'll get a dog. If I want to vomitous sounding vocals, I'll check out the local bar. If I want to hear repetetive shit thats supposed to be music, I will turn on MTV. No need to buy any of the shit at all.

FWIW, my bro-in-law said that he didn't really care for the type of 'brutal death' that CC played, but that he still enjoyed the show...which was at this huge old Soviet-era government building at the top of one of the tallest hills in the city. The one where he and I were going to go to the Behemoth show the September before last...

That's cool -- yeah I'd got to a Corpse show for sure if they ever came through, just for the hell of it and to hang with all my friends, check em out & see how they're sounding live these days. Hell yeah. I saw Behemoth on that tour too, and they were pretty decent. I'd already been familiar with some of their discs, and seeing them up front live was cool. Behemoth is coming back here in January with some other heavys . . . I will not miss that. I think Suffocation is on that one. . . . YES!

But 2nite!, 2nite here in SLC none other than C2B3 is playing out live, that's shorthand for CORPORAL CLAYPOOLS' BUCKET O'BERNIE BRAINS, and yes indeedy that would be Les Claypool his own bad self leading Primus's percussionist extraordinaire BRAIN along with the elusive BUCKETHEAD on lead quantum guitar all floating on the funky cushion of the One!, the Only!, yes Mr. Bernie Worrel hisself, none other than the MAN responsible for bringing to the world PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC Ladie & Gents so let me just introduce 2 U C2B3 sure to provide a most harrowing show full of one-eyed freakish beats and bad-acid riffs all turned inside out through the pan-dimensional echo-chamber of Bernie's Stacks amped up and outta control, this is going to be the show not to miss. If only I had $22 bucks. Ah but where there's a will there's a way so I'm going to find my brightest thinnest tie and Top-Hat & most polished swordcane and see if I can't click my heels down the rainy sidewalk to the venue and use THE FORCE to get into this show, who knows-? I halfway resemble Mr. Claypool maybe I can fool em and sneak in and lose myself in the crowd before the real deal shows up, I'll show em! Anywho wish me luck I'll need it...

Behemoth is doing the States in January? I've actually gotta dig around to see who's coming because that self-same brother-in-law is flying in to be Godfather to our son...and, oh yeah, he wants to RAWK. NP: Yeah, Don. I did run out and get one...a 5 star rating from Downbeat...so far, cool.

Just bought Best of Cowboy Junkies. I've always loved the first 2 songs: Blue Moon Revisited and Sweet Jane but after buying this I'm starting to dig this song as well:

Muhaha, I'm going to see Les Claypool's side project tonight. Wasn't planning on it but a friend from Kansas called to say he was driving up to Denver tonight to see them -- and they happen to be playing a block away from me so he can hang out at my house afterwards. I'm so happy. One of my best friends ever + Les Claypool + no parking problem + birthday. Could it get any better?

I know everyone knows that my taste in music is….well………..not the most diverse or cutting edge. But let me tell you that you all need to give Juliette & The Licks debut EP “Like A Bolt Of Lightning” a listen. This stuff is instantly enjoyable. I don’t know how to even categorize it, so if anybody has heard it, let me know what you think. I just have no idea why they would bother with and EP, and not just release a full cd.

OK then...haven't been around for quite a while..listening to much the same indie stuff...welcome to the ranks of the indie snobs Mary!!!
Crumb...So Dirty Every Day Pine...Akira Sunrise McLusky...My Pain and Sadness, and The Only Difference Monkey Knife Fight...Reptiles Vs Man Modest Mouse...LCW and Good News Mos Eisley...The Get Up Set J Z Barrel...Heres The surprise GBV...Universal Truths And Cycles, The Pipe Dreams .. Trash Can Sinatras...A Happy Pocket Sleepers Union...Giant spheres Alec Bathgate...Gold Lame
and thats just been the last day or two
can't say Interpol grabbed me...far rather listen to Joy Division, and that Hot Hot Heat album became so so quite quickly too. Too scared to buy Franz Ferdinand as they sound so much like The Strokes (at least that overplayed video), I think I'd tire of them too...Razorlight may have to wait too
On the subject of The Cowboy Junkies...I just love playing that version of Sweet Jane on my guitar...its so much like that version on VUs 1969 live album...

Re the Hot Hot Heat album, I find it impossible to listen to anymore. I probably listened to it three times and then it completely lost its magic. I have "Bandages" on a Canadian indie mix CD, so jesus, the only reason I'm keeping the full album is so I can bequeath it to my children/nieces and nephews and say "Here, here's a one-hit wonder from when I was young."
