I've been listening to Loaded (the fully loaded edition) this week, and I've come to the conclusion that I like this better than the VU's self-titled third album. Therefore I need to change my #25 from VU to Loaded.

Paul -- do me a favor and either edit your original list or repost it. What I'm going to do is go through these posts at the end of the week and add any new lists to my current spreadsheet. Then I'll total up the votes for each record, and post the final results by the end of next weekend.
And again, I want to extend this poll to ANYONE who posts regularly here (or who posted on Rolling Stone back in the day). Like I said in the first post here, as long as you've heard (and presumably liked) enough albums to fill out the list (and 25 really isn't THAT many), you're qualified to vote. So Chrisfan, and anyone else who doesn't usually post on music related topics, now's your chance to express musical preferences without any fear of reprisal. After all, look at how many dicey records have already been mentioned here (who the hell knew Aerosmith would have such a following here?).
Polls will be open till 5 p.m. Friday ... so vote early and often ... or something like that!

I missed out on posting a list the first time around, so I guess I'll give it a shot now. Not really sure what formula I used here. Certainly some sort of mysterious mix between personal preference and objective understanding of the album, with personal preference obviously weighed more. And I know only 25 are going to count, but I couldn't help myself, so here's my top 50:
1) The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico 2) The Clash - London Calling 3) Red Hot Chili Peppers - BloodSugarSexMagik 4) Television - Marquee Moon 5) Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde 6) Guided by Voices - Alien Lanes 7) Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 8) The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground 9) The Arcade Fire - Funeral 10) Lou Reed - Berlin 11) The Clash - The Clash 12) X - Wild Gift 13) The Stooges - Fun House 14) The Pixies - Doolittle 15) Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation 16) The White Stripes - De Stijl 17) Radiohead - OK Computer 18) Iggy & the Stooges - Raw Power 19) The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat 20) X - More Fun in the New World 21) Blanche - If We Can't Trust the Doctors... 22) Mission of Burma - Signals, Calls and Marches 23) Jeff Buckley - Grace 24) The Beatles - Revolver 25) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication _________________________ 26) Wilco - Being There 27) R.E.M. - Automatic for the People 28) The Stooges - The Stooges 29) The Replacements - Tim 30) The Velvet Underground - Loaded 31) The Pixies - Surfer Rosa 32) Big Star - #1 Record 33) Elvis Costello - This Year's Model 34) Nirvana - In Utero 35) Sonic Youth - Sister 36) The Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime 37) Stone Temple Pilots - Purple 38) Neko Case - Blacklisted 39) The Smiths - The Queen is Dead 40) David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars 41) The Kinks - Lola Vs. the Powerman and the Moneygoround, Pt. 1 42) Nirvana - Nevermind 43) Antony & the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now 44) The White Stripes - Elephant 45) Fugazi - The Argument 46) MC5 - Kick Out the Jams 47) The Clash - Sandinista! 48) Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade 49) John Cale - Fear 50) Radiohead - Kid A

I think I'm gonna redo mine since Muse's Absolution has moved so far up my list in the last few weeks. I have a feeling it's gonna make my top 25.

Awesome list, Sigman. I shall seek out the few I don't have in the near future. You've yet to lead me wrong.

WOW, Rocky. Californication? Over everything but Blood Sugar?
I meant to start a "Best RHCP" poll around here, which I figured would end in a BSSM landslide and eventually trail off in a discussion between me and Rocky...may put that one up, though.

Well, looking at your list on the other board you just put up, it seems as though our rankings are identical other than your ridiculous misplacement of Californication.
That album is nearly perfect. When it came out, it revived my interest in the band in a crazy way, and I haven't lost my love for it since then. 15 songs, nearly all of them fantastic. And it's easily John Frusciante's best work (although his work on By the Way is pretty spectacular too).
You and I may be the only people in the world who rank One Hot Minute over Mother's Milk. But it's so, so true.
