Hair band pics crack me up... especially if it's those wankers from Poison. Pictured from left to right: Melissa Auf der Maur, Lita Ford, Nick Rhodes, Cyndi Lauper.

Doc is correct. He is the only one here that really "knows" what he is talking about. The term "hairmetal" is a ridiculous term that didn't come along until long after most of these bands were in existance. Jackyl IS NOT even a consideration here. They are NOT glam and they are NOT hairmetal. They are complete good old Georgia born southern blues/rock and roll, their main influence being AC/DC. I have seen and met them twice. They are cool as hell and they do kick ass! This was a tough vote. I just recently saw Cinderella, Ratt, Quiet Riot, and Firehouse at ASU. I met both Cinderella and Quiet Riot, very cool people. Quiet Riot was of course great! Cinderella was absolutely one of the best blues rock and roll bands I have ever heard, extreme talent there!! Ratt just can't quite cut it with the new singer, just not his style of music AT ALL. Stephen Pearcy rules!! Oh and Luke, I have NEVER seen what you were talking about with Stephen getting beat up by a fan. You would think they would definately show that on one of those VH1 or MTV shows "Worst Metal Moments" or what not.. I saw Ratt with Dokken back in the day, great show! I have also seen Twisted Sister with YNT (a very good band). But my vote had to go to Twisted Sister, this band kicks ass and is by far the most outrageous of them all. I suspect anyone that would even suggest cutting on them has obviously NEVER really listened to much of their music. Burn In Hell, Captain Howdy/Street Justice, Under the Blade, Destroyer.... Shoot Em Down, You Can't Stop Rock n Roll, The Kids Are Back....they just kick ass. Besides I have the same name as the lead singer. LOL And Dee's solo work is VERY good!! Not too mention how many covers, Motorhead (Shoot Em Down), Dimmu Borgir (Burn In Hell), Cradle of Filth (The Fire Still Burns), Children of Bodom (We're Not Gonna Take It) Anthrax (Destroyer), Overkill (Under the Blade), Sebastian Bach (You Can't Stop Rock n Roll), Hammerfall (We're Gonna Make It). Twisted Sister is on tour right now with Alice Cooper in Europe. They just headlined Wacken (one of the biggest metal festivals in the world) in 2003 and 2004 if I'm not mistaken, not too mention how many other European festivals they have headlined. Plus they did a USO show in Korea. One band I didn't see on the list is WASP. \m/ btw, Motley Crue is overated, and their last few albums are complete shit. I did get a HUGE laugh with Vince's facelift and makeover. Oh and one band that definately should have been on the list is KISS, hell they have been around since 1965 and have only influenced EVERY single glam band known to man.

Mention of the Scorpions (who surely sUxx0rwhatever - am I dope with the street now, Riley bro'?) and Europe got me thinking about mainland Europe's contribution to rock n' pop over the years. Add Abba, Roxette, and woefully trashy europop like Sabrina... then factor in that David Hasselhoff and Midge Ure still dominate the German scene... and what you have is me getting seriously off thread. But seriously, there's something fundamentally wrong with mainland Europe. Sure, the scandinavians try hard with their black/death metal, as do Lithuania and the Ukraine. But guttural thrashings aside, I've noticed that for good music you have to almost exclusively go to the islands - UK and Iceland in particular. I wonder if it's something to do with island mentality. Hmm, I'd better check out what's happening in Cyprus lately. The Scandinavians have some of the BEST bands in metal right now (all genres) and Gothenburg Beats the shit out of ANY American Death Metal band. Don't make me start a long list here... ;D

One of my friends in high school gave a blowjob to someone in Trixter. I can't remember who. Really. Really? Guy or girl?

...I think it'll still be called shitty nu-metal...nothing pisses off a nu-metal fan quite like calling their favorite band, we'll say Korn, nu-metal.

Incidently, I haven't voted yet. This is the stuff I grew up and I take the hairmetal tag with the lighthearted humor much of music was delievered with...it was alot of fun. My first big concert was Motley Crue with Warrant and goddammit I enjoyed the hell out of that show...I imagine my vote will go to the Crue with the understanding that any admiration ends with Dr. Feelgood.
BTW I've seen Queensryche twice...is anyone impressed by that yet?

Never have been.

Never have been? Are you sure? I think you need to look at the back cover of Rage For Order again. Tate has Flock Of Seagulls hair.

Absolutely no contest. The Crue fucking OWN this category. Forget Vince Neil and Tommy Lee - it's all about NIKKI SIXX (drool) and MICK MARS (weirdest human being EVER??) I don't really know if I'm voting based on the music (although the thing that can be said for early Crue, at least, is that these boys did not forget the all-important legacy of the New York Dolls - and Shout at the Devil pretty much rocks), the ridiculously over-the-top image, the most decadent of all the decadent hair band lifestyles, or the wonderfully ludicrous Motley Crue "Uncensored" documenary my friend made me watch once. Ooooh not to mention that Motley Crue book that's out now. C'mon. Hair band = Motley Crue. Their picture ought to be in the dictionary under the word "hair" - there's no fucking contest at all here. Cheers, M I can't resist this one.... Nikki Six has had so many drugs that everytime he shoots a load the lucky recipient gets stoned. How many people do you know die twice from a herion od and are still alive???
