Just wanted to say that The Icon board was a kickin' idea to come up with, especially not having the pics interrupted with verbage.
Thought maybe we could at least add a thread here to where if someone DID want to make comments they could toss them up here w/o having to disrupt the continuity of the other board.
I should go back through there and pick out some choice moments so far....what comes to mind now is the cool pic from "The Searchers" and that damn fine shot of Al Bundy at the top of one page!

Just to clarify - I mean the one in the check jacket. Not Frank Black.

I've never heard of Chris Farley. British TV never showed SNL, as far as I know.

I've never laughed so hard at one man in my entire life. Not sure how he'd catch on to your British sensibilities, though.

Who cares about the British sensibility? British people think Babyshambles are brilliant. Fuck the British sensibility.

Okay, then, order yourself The Best of Chris Farley. Or at least go rent Tommy Boy.

Will do. Seriously, the ten best drama shows on British TV are American. The 10 best comedy shows since Blackadder have been American (with the single, notable exception of The Office). The best authors since about 1930 have all been American. The best music scene right now is Canadian. The best sports nation is Australia. Britain's showing its age. We get a semi-decent band show up in the UK now and we have to pretend Editors are one of the best bands on the planet. It's a desperate state of affairs.
Having said all that, Arctic Monkeys really are the dogs bollocks. But it's about 15 years too soon to put them on the icons board.

I never really thought Chris Farley was very funny. Sorry luke. My brother loved him, we used to argue about it all the time. Remember that fucking motiviational speaker van-down-by-the-river shtick he did on SNL?? That shit drove me crazy and my brother thought it was the funniest shit ever. Luke's Sopranos pic made me sad though.... can't believe adriana is no more I've been re-watching season 5 in preparation for season 6 and knowing what's going to happen just makes it really difficult to watch the buildup... Cheers, M

To each his/her own, but I fuckin' die at that "van by the river" bit -- hell, even the fellow cast members are cracking up live during the one scene about smoking pot and shit.... yeah he was a bit 'over the top' on it but christ what a moment.....
Speaking of making someone sad though, I will confess to trying to play with people's emotions while scrolling through some of the images I've posted. I know the intent of the board was for Icons but the style of it quickly hit me to how powerful a picture can be. I thought of how just a quick glace of even a portion of the face of Charles Manson or the lips of Charles Kane could bring to mind a feeling, an emotion. Maybe not "icons" but a part of culture than still clicks in the minds of people.

Farley's not for the intellectually-inclined, for sure. It's stupid comedy at its best, though, IMO.
I've been trying to make it through the Sopranos, but at a much slower pace. Actually just finished up Season 1 for the birthday...do plan on knocking them all out before March, though.

I'm not a Farley fan by any means, but that "livin' in a van ... down by the RIVER!" shit was absolutely hysterical.

Farley's not for the intellectually-inclined, for sure. It's stupid comedy at its best, though, IMO. couldn't agree more....I don't always want to pick my brain to understand witty, sarcastic humor (although I do love it) and when a mood like that hits me, Chris Farley is the perfect remedy. Nothing to think about, just pure dumb, laugh your ass off comedy. I love his interview w/ Sir Paul back in the day...."remember when you were in the Beatles?".....
