Had to go with Chrissie for sentimental reasons but certainly in terms of her post Learning to Crawl output, S-K's got her beat.

I still voted for SK just 'cause they haven't had any votes. I listen to the Pretenders more though...Plus I've seen SK 3 times live and they rocked my world each time.

Hit Parader used to give The Plasmatics way more ink than they ever deserved. She used to scare the fuck out of me.

I voted for Blondie. The first real frontwoman for a pop/rock band. Debbie Harry paved the way for so many others that followed. She was also my first rock n' roll crush.

What about Grace Slick fronting Jefferson Airplane? Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company? Phil's favorite Swedish export, ABBA? Patti Smith Group? I love Debbie, but I think saying "first real frontwoman" might be pushing it more than a bit.

Like her or not, it was Janis Joplin who opened the door of Rock 'n' Roll for women ...
And she did it by being herself, authenticaly excessive and raw
as far away emotionaly speaking as most of the female performers now ...
