The 90s for me will be this: Stereolab, Radiohead, Unwound, Pavement, The Pixies release of "Bossanova" and "Trompe Le Monde", The Breeders, Belly's "Star", Medicine, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr's "Green Mind", Afghan Whigs' "Gentleman", Sebadoh "Bakesale", Helium, Polvo, Fugazi, Slant 6, Bikini Kill, Karp, The Melvins, Modest Mouse.....west was 98 folks...., Shellac, Neurosis, Tortoise, Palace Music, Slint, The Lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield, Aphex Twin, Nine Inch Nails, .........man this list goes on and on, Marilyn Manson, there is so much of the 90s like L7 and this is just off the top of my head. It was when I first heard Blonde Redhead...........there is so much of the 90s that was so good that is so outside of Fastball or any of the other five million "alternative" bands of the decade.
Oh yeah, and Yo La Tengo.

Fastball is from Austin and they are very nice boys. They took their fame with humility and amazement that was pretty endearing. It's not a terrible tune, I have just heard it a million times.

Ah, the rise of Brit Pop in the 90s was a fantastic thing for me with acts like Pulp. Oh man, do I still love that sound.
I have a list 1 million deep of bands that I love from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

However, Skvor, I did then try Blur as I know they were always rated alongside..and they only moderately intrigued me......

Talk about being on the cutting edge ... ;D

Blur's "Parklife" is a classic. If you haven't heard that one all the way through, it is a great album. I am also very very fond of "13 Songs", which has some fantastic songs about heartache and loss. Although as much as I love Oasis, The Charlatans UK, and Suede, none of them have the charm for me as Jarvis Cocker.
The 90s, as much as I tell alot of my younger friends to defend themselves from it, was a very fun time for finding out music for me. I worked in a record store and discovered a ton of great bands.

I prefer The Great Escape to Parklife, but I think that's a minority view. I'm sure that one of the other young 'uns here better schooled in Brit-Pop than I (JLLM and his better half, Kool, etc.) can affirm this. But for my money, The Great Escape is Blur's best album.

Ugh, I hated Think Tank. There was one song that wasn't that bad but it wasn't good enough to listen to the album again.

I also like The Great Escape at least as well as Parklife. I listen to the Great Escape more.

The Great Escape is a very good record. Very very good and it is just slightly below "Parklife" for me. I am also a huge fan of the early Verve records as well. Those are beautiful.
