This is so great, I moved my CD shelves over here to my girlfriend's, so for the first time in six months I have access to my entire CD collection as I sit around and do nothing! It's beautiful.
Anyway, posting this here because I've been listening to stuff I haven't listened to lately, and I popped in Sloan's Pretty Together. I'd changed my mind about this one awhile back, putting it behind One Chord and Twice Removed, but now I don't really know. The stuff that wasn't that good before sounds really awful now, but the good stuff sounds fantastic.
About to listen to some Grapes of Wrath, too. And some of everything else I haven't had access to in six months. Great times. Although it needs to quit fucking raining.

Grapes Of Wrath is perfect rain music.
Murph's songs on Pretty Together are Pretty Awful. I thought so when I bought it and i still do.
Andrew's songs in general depend on my mood. Heard "On The Horizon" from Navy Blues recently and it kicked arse.
Jay's songs are much better than I've ever really given him credit for and really continue to get better and almost lead the pack, and considering "Snowsuit Sound" was his, nithing else really matters.
Patrick's songs all sound pretty much the same, but they always have the best hooks.

Riley, yeah - that's the cover of Whale Music. A bit too small to really do it justice - in addition to being a great songwriter and musician, Tielli's a phenomenal painter as well. The Blue Hysteria for instance, is just about worth it on the basis of the artwork alone. Actually, the Rheos artwork and packaging is pretty wonderful across the board, I mean, check out the storybook format for The Story of Harmelodia sometime.
Anyway, I was thinking that every couple days I might switch the image to some other equally exalted Canadian icon.
Found an old e-mail address for sunny, BTW, so I sent her a note to try and round her up - Yorke and Dwarf, too, of course. I think she used to correspond with Tunes, so I mentioned to her that we were all trying to get in touch with her too.
Hey, Ryosuke - I got your package, man. That was fast considering the post you made the other day about having to get it all together and shit. I'm totally overwhelmed!! I was expecting one disc (and making the same for you) and you send me FOUR WHOLE ALBUMS! I've only listened to the GREAT 3 disc in its entirety (another sinus headache) but it sounds fantastic! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
If you don't mind, I'm thinking I'm going to burn at least one more for you before I send your package. After road testing the disc today I was ready to send it but I feel bad sending you one disc in exchange for four. Might take me a little more time but I'll see if I can't speed things things up bit.

I hear the new Sloan album is pretty solid.

It's good, but wore thin on me fast. Haven't listened to it in awhile...prolly need to pop it in soon. It rocks harder than they've been rocking lately...some very AC/DC stuff going on there, even more than usual.

Hey, Drum, what did you get in the mail?
Or:
Hey, Ryosuke, what did you send Drum?

I ended up not putting in Now & Again and went with Bossanova instead. Dunno why...just this sudden urge to listen to The Pixies, which is something that never happened before.

Hey Drum. I was thinking the exact same thing in terms of nudging Yorke, Dawrf and Sunny, and how that would be the best way to catch Tunes as well. Good thinking. Well done. Always one step ahead. Just listened to Bossanova last week. I can't decide if I like it or Trompe Le Monde better. Never have been able to actually.

Ekul, Ryosuke sent me four discs:
Sunny Day Service – 24ji Mayumi Kajima – Ai No Poltergeist Blankey Jet City – Last Dance(Disc 1) Great 3 – When You Were a Beauty
As I said last night, haven't had time to listen to them all yet but I've really enjoyed what I've heard so far.
I agree about Bossanova and Trompe le Monde, Riley. Although, I've always had a particular soft spot for the former…
I know hockey's sort of on the backburner as spring warms up but how about those Flames, eh?!!

Damnit, why didn't I see Drum's post until now?! Drum, my decision to burn whole albums (did the same thing for ekul) was influenced by the fact that it takes much less effort to do that than to obsess over getting THE correct song selection and THE correct running order. In other words, I'm a lazy bastard. And judging from all the agonies that you seem to be enduring from compiling the disc, it looks like I made the right decision! As for sending me two discs, yeah, I was kind of hoping that my package would pressure you into doing that At present, I don't even have the right to post on this board, and I'm hoping that that will change when I receive your compilations. And far as I'm concerned, Bossanova > Trompe Le Monde. Oh, and please don't stone me to death for asking such a stupid question, but what does CanCon stand for?

Is it just me or does Mike Ricci look like one of the guys from FUBAR?
What a scruffy dirty looking little fucker.
Really nice teeth though.

No worries, Ryo; I mean, I'm not objecting to receiving four discs, it's just a lot more than I expected that's all. Thanks once again, I am enjoying them. If you can bear with my painstaking slow-ass methods, though, and you are OK with waiting just a little bit longer, I'll make the disc that I've burned for you part of a CanCon boxset. Make a neat Christmas present for you if nothing else. j/k

I've heard all but that Great 3, Drum. The Mayumi Kajimi came in this most recent of packages. Really like it, great voice, very Japanese sounding stuff. Blankey Jet City is my favorite out of that bunch, for sure.
I always wondered over the CanCon thing, m'self...
