In The City isn't exactly mind-blowing, but it still kicks ass. It sounds like '60s Who played at 45 RPM. Very cool stuff, and it was only my first listen! I will pick up their other releases ( All Mod Cons, Snap etc.) Ken.

"60's Who played at 45 rpm" -- I think you've just summed up the initial Jam approach in one nice sound bite. Yeah, go for All Mod Cons etc. next. If the debut resonates with you at all, you've got some real treats in store once you hit the band's prime material. If you find a copy of Dig the New Breed, it might hit the spot with you as well. One of the all-time great live albums, IMO. Think I'm gonna buy that punk set M was talking about ... the local Best Buy has it for a reasonable price, and I'm going through a bit of a first wave punk revival myself. Nothing beats two guitars, bass and drums when it comes to great rock and roll.

i'm sorry to report the deaths of my b-52s and ac/dc tapes. man... anyway, i can't get over the "stuck in a moment you can't get out of" acoustic cover on u2's 7. tearworthy, though i, of course, don't cry from listening to songs... that's right... i don't... nope... not at all... not me... nope... as for my next purchase, i'm considering aftermath by the rolling stones. opinions?

Bought a CD by Mogwai tonight... Happy Songs for Happy People...
Hearda track by Mogwai at my Cousins place and sounded like something I could easily get into!
I'll give it a spin tonight, a night of discovering a new artist!

That's cool, Scottsy. MOGWAI are a great new band to look out for. I recently purchased KORN's "Untouchables" on VINYL the other day....man was that a refreshing sonic bit of (dys)function coursing from my speakers, or what! That album still stuns me -- and on vinyl, it sounds even better. I also scored (on vinyl) RUSH's A Farewell To Kings and Moving Pictures.
*See Concert Board for my RUSH review
I saw em last night...

I think I'll go out and get some more Mogwai in the months to come.... Happy Songs for Happy People really ignited my enthusiasm, I must say...
Really having a Devin Townshend thing right now, too! :-)

The Microphones are pretty lo-fi, mostly acoustic guitar. I would recommend getting "The Glow, Pt 2" first. thanks, lunatic. sounds like something i'd really be able to get into..i'll have to check them out. thanks for the album recommendation scottsy, the RS user "someone" sent me young team by mogwai, and it's an excellent album. i've never heard any of their other albums, but i can assure you that it's one worth checking out. i love instrumental albums thats beauty creates so much emotion. riley, listened to the stills album twice, and it's catchy as hell. i love it. i think that it gets a bit repetitive though. the song highlights for me are: lola stars and stripes, allison krausse, and fevered.

i think "blood on the tracks" is his best album. it's a heartbreaking masterpiece.
i think you'd really like by the way. i still listen to it a ton...its very catchy.

Just bought Furnace Room Lullaby by Neko Case. Why doesn't all country music sound like this all the time?

Yes, it's so hard to find a woman you want to do and listen to.

I still want to have sex with LIz Phair as long as her new disc isn't playing.
Can you imagine having sex with PJ Harvey while Rid Of Me was playing? Talk about nervous tension.

Proud. The Beatles disc is second only to Revolver imo. The Stones disc is okay if you're a fan already. Not a Dylan or Floyd fan at all, so I'll defer there. Sandinista! is great, but pretty different against other Clash output. I think all Chili's output is pretty much shit since Blood Sugar Sex Magic, and even then I still prefer their stuff prior to that one. Somehow I don't think I've helped very much. I would just say go buy the new disc by Tv On The Radio instead
