My boyfriend & I are adopting some new puppies, too! We went to a shelter wanting to adopt a smallish dog (I've only ever had big dogs, so I'm not used to small ones, but we need to think about what kind of dog we could take overseas with us next year when we move). Instead of finding one, we found two. We fell in love. both are English bulldogs & they're brothers (they're so ugly! Bless! In the family tradition of naming pets for musos, we have christened the fatter one 'Frankie' (for Frank Black, who is also ugly & has the build of a bulldog) & the smaller one 'Henry' (as in Rollins, because he has no neck) We'll be picking them up tomorrow. I can't wait. I've never had my own dogs living with me, so I'm gonna spoil these two rotten! Frankie & Henry. aww. cutest dog rock star names ever.

That's Frankie, I take it?
What a darling. He needs to be petted and cuddled immediately.

oh, thats just some random english bulldog puppy. Ours are still at the shelter, getting all their worming & shots etc.
They were abandoned soon after their birth by some cruel bastard. If you don't want puppies get your freaking pets desexed moron.
I'm so stoked. I love dogs anyway, but ugly dogs I go crazy over. I did want a pug, but bulldogs are uglier & there were no pugs at shelters.
They're staying at my place for now till Sean moves in & I'm going to squeeze them to death with hugs.
I just hope when they're older they'll get along with our family dogs at mum & dad's place.

What kind of dog do your parents have?

A black Dodson by the name of Digger. He looks like this but with a white strip of fur from his neck to the bottom of his chest. His name is based on his favorite activity in the backyard. I thought it was a crappy name (I wanted Gromit) but its grown on me. Besides, its not my dog. He's awesome. He was a bastard for the first few months because he would act like he didn't know me (I visit monthly) and would bark like crazy. Now he just wants attention and a face to lick on.

He was also a puppy when my parents got him (I think 3-4 weeks old) and now he's close to the size of the dog in the picture.

Thats a good-looking dog. So he's quite young then? Down under 'digger' is army slang, so that actually makes his name pretty cool. My parents have four dogs now. A black lab named Boss (for Sprinsgteen/Kenny H), a golden retriever named Joe (as in Satriani), a Siberian Husky called Rico (ie Clapton) & the baby is the German Shepherd we got last year, which Sean christened Floyd. I think we all know who that dog was named after. Joe is my fave, he plays soccer with me, but heis getting old, the poor thing. I've had to demote him from striker to midfielder

Floyd Kramer? Yeah, I think the dog should be 7-8 months old now. What does "digger" stand for, by the way?

I used to have a cat named Digger. She was a snow white manx, with lime green eyes, and slender curved ivory witch fangs. She got et by a fisher.

We'd call her "Digger Dog Knuckles" for short.

Originally, a "digger" meant a soldier fighting in WWI (Anzac forces). But now its pretty much any soldier.
Thorn, your cat was eaten? Thats horrible. I had a cat who ran away. Then my cat Penny I gave to my sister when I had to move & now she snarls at me. Cats are bizarre.
I don't like chihuahuas much either, Pat. Ugly, beady little heads on those fuckers. Plus, yappy dogs are annoying.

Frankie & Henry are so cute. Except Frankie tried to chew on a pair of my ballet slippers. Troublemaker, that one. As if the real Frank Black would eat my shoes.
Good luck for when Toodles gets to come home, Pat. Do you have any other pets?
