Went on a non-meat vegitarian diet recently. Actually went about 6 weeks with no meat what-so-ever. Then decided to add fish back in my diet. Then came the eventual double meat/double cheese from sonic. Now its no pork. Haven't had any pork for probably 5-6 months now. The "cloven hoof/shelled fish" thing goes through my mind when I think about pork/shrimp et,al. That and a ghastly PETA movie that showed how pigs are slaughtered for market. Ick. Am having beef stroganoff (the hamburger helper variety) with steamed broccoli tonight for supper. Fresh fruit for desert.

I just saw and advertisement by a company called "Smart" on TV last night. They are claiming that with their CDs you can "Listen and Lose Weight." It's a psychological, subconscious program where your subconscious is trained to deal with your overeating by craving good foods and rejecting fattening foods. They start off with this questionairre you fill out to indicate which eating disorder you have. The only one I can remember is "Emotional Eater." They actually claim that this program will change your appetites and habits simply by listening to their series of CDs. Makes me wonder if it's some type of strange hypnosis. But, get this, they also claim that you can lose like 25 pounds in 6 weeks, or something like that, and that if you don't you get your money back. One of the main points it stresses is that you will not only lose the weight but "Keep it off". I believe it costs 6 payments of $19.99. I was wondering if anyone has heard about this and if it has any credibility.

I don't know if anybody buying this "program" can ever lose any weight... but the guys selling it sure will end up with a FAT wallet if enough gullible people buy into this Mumbo Jumbo...
On the other hand, if someone truly believe this will help then there is no telling what can happen ...
The mind is a powerful tool !!
Bottom line is, only by eating healty food in reasonable portions and exercise regularly can help you lose weight and keep it off.
And if you(as in anybody/everybody)can't do that and eating is your way of controling/placating your emotions, seeing a therapist may be the only way to get you to understand why you need to eat more food than your body really needs...

My guess, Phil, is that you haven't seen the advertisement because it is chocked full of dealing with the thoughts and attitudes of eating healthy and exercising. It emphasises that the mind reacts to the subconscious thoughts about health foods, junk foods, snacking, exercising etc. Although I never admitted to actually believing this system works, I'm curious about what it claims to do. The idea of it all is quite intriguing. I guess the main way they CLAIM it works is that you can begin to have a desire for healthy food and exercise by changing your subconscious attitude about each subject. I know it might sound a bit ridiculous the way I described it, but the advertisement was quite convincing. I'm also aware that advertising is almost always convincing. I weigh about 210 so I might give it a try.

HÉ ! Just the thought of "losing" more than 120$ could be incentive enough to try shedding a few pounds as well...
Speaking only for myself, I'd rather go for a bicycle run instead of listening (viewing?) to some CDs ...
But then, I've never been overweight myself so what do I now about this !
Tonight supper is tomato tart and taboulé salad BTW

Get well quick GiGi. Supper tonight consisted of last nights leftover spaghetti with fresh cut pineapple. I add lots of fresh vegetables to the sauce: Bell peppers, onion and sliced mushrooms. Also add a pound of ground beef. Makes a great topping topped of-course with fresh ground parmesan cheese. Spaghetti's not really great until it sits refrigerated overnight and reheated IMO.

I think I’m doing a black forest ham w some sort of sides tonight though I don’t feel like eating a thing. That’s the curse of having to cook for others.
This fucking cold is the worst. Just getting dressed I feel like I’ve run a marathon. I think even the dog knows there’s something wrong.

When the dog knows thats usually a good clue...
Think I'll have grilled cheeses with some vegetarian vegetable soup tonight. I add claussen pickle slices in the middle before taking the sandwich off the grill. Yum.

Made beef chorizo with a 1/2 dozen eggs. Added fresh sliced jalapeno peppers. Yum. Picked up some Hebrew brand beef hotdogs at walmart. Their kosher weiners... Will be great with sourkraut and mustard.

Spanish dry sausage? I don't know what kinda chorizo you make phil, the kind I make is pretty wet. Check chorizo out at your local market. I try not to think about what part of the cow chorizo comes from...it sure tastes good though.
