fredrum, you have some nice equipment! Ibanez kinda gets shitted on b/c of the association w/ cheese metal, but some of their older guitars are really freakin' cool.
Which guitar do you use the most?
Too bad I'm not out wherever you are...I'd audition for drums...I don't play often, but I like to get into the tribal/groove/heavy beats myself....Think Jack Irons from Pearl Jam's No Code album...

Went and jammed a little with the bass player and a drummer he knows on Saturday. That went pretty well. The singer that he thought he had lined up is still missing, so I think we're going to have to do some digging around and find someone else. I'm liking the challenge of this funkier stuff though. I was doing my best John Frusciante impression.

I think you should go ahead and take over on vocals, Rocky. You can channel Anthony as well as Frusciante.

I have been channelling my inner Brian Eno the past few days.

I have been channelling my inner Brian Eno the past few days. How so -? (You mean you've been listening to a lot of Eno. . .or creating tape-loops & shit ...?)

Which guitar do you use the most? probably the sg....but the L6-S is getting up there...i just got it about a week and a half ago, but its so easy to dial in a good tone with that thing that i could easily see it becoming my go to guitar. others that i have, but dont necessarily use quite as much: 97 cij fender jazzmaster-candy apple red w/matching headstock 76 ibanez strat copy 76 univox ripper strat copy w/three humbuckers (stock!) mid 70's univox hi flier w/trem (mosrite copy a la cobain) late 70's univox hi flier wo/trem 70 something epiphone et-270 70's madeira lp junior copy 80's washburn stage series a-20 and thats just the nicer stuff....iifve got quite a few 20 dollar junkers/oddball wierd stuff too.......i think im sick......

Just got back from doing some jamming with the bass player.
We use the basement of this house that a bunch of his friends live in. After we play, the guys who live there want to jam. This is fun, but I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT I'M DOING. These kids are all incredible musicians. And most of the music I've played in my life was pretty structured. I need to build up some technique and some confidence, because thus far (two times playing with them), I feel like everyone's aware of how shitty I am.

That's a good way to learn. Besides, if they're cool guys they won't mind (and will even help out) you coming into your own around them. Just playing and jamming is the best way to do that. I'm sure I've frustrated a few band mates here and there by any lack of technical ability, but you do what you can and usually they understand. Either way, that's the best way to pick up new things. Especially if you guys plan on playing together for some time, you'll want to be aware of where everyone stands and help whoever out wherever you can.

Well, there's only the one guy that I'm really working with. Everyone else just lives there and I think just sort of jams with whoever happens to be at their house at any given time.

Don't worry, Thorn, I will send you some of my stuff. I have been making tons of loops and writing some seriously strange post rock/pop music in the Eno style. I'm having a weird transition with a couple of bands that I play in, so it may be just me again playing with myself (other than....you know, dirty pics on the net) and I'm all right with that. I recorded a record and I'm working on an EP that I am shopping out to labels trying to get them to give me a chance. I'm getting some good responses from England, but stateside, I just don't think I've blown the right guy yet. I need to make this happen though as I want to put out a record that anyone in the world could buy. I would love to change my little CDR label to a full on thing, but getting distribution these days is hard.
I'm going to keep trying though......

maybe... though you should really go the Iggy Pop cut-yo-self-with-broken-glass route.
