Nor me. They sound quite useful actually. I'm always accidentally throwing picks mid-song. Maybe I just hold the buggers wrong, eh?

Some picks have a textured grip area for sweaty-fingered people. I just put a couple on my amp.

I always liked those Dava picks.
Trying to learn the chords to A Song For You by Leon Russell. I can't really pick shit like this out but i can make the chords.

Nice tune. Google can help, Shane. You might try "guitar tab." You can then search most of the tab sites by song or author name.

Well i've found the chords for it on one site, no way i can figure out all those piano chords on my own. I don't need to get fancy with picking all the time, i'm a bare bones kinda guy.

Anyone know any ways to find your voice, singing wise?

delusion roulette
with dice for eyes the odds you see are lies are quite high, the truth a crapshoot.
image doubled, roll again. spin the myriad ball to when
the sky is a direct reflection with one eye shut, one chamber empty
so flip the safety off from what you think and go ahead, commit your suicidal wink.

Interesting metaphors, there, Thorny. Anyone know any ways to find your voice, singing wise? I think we discussed this somewhat at RS. I would say... You can't be tentative - you have to go for the note and not try to sneak up on it. Sing from the diaphragm and put something into it. Learn to "work the mike" by moving in closer or farther as needed. Despite mikes with roll-off characteristics and all the signal processors such as compressor/limiters that you can use, this is still important (especially if you aren't using a compressor/limiter and a real-time sound man). Sweeten it up with the right amount of reverb or delay for your voice and the style. There is a tendency to use too much. Try to warm up your voice first. Have adequate monitors - very important. Recognize your limitations and work around them. Exude confidence.

Hey, there was a cool show on the Discovery Channel tonight. The show is called Big! I don't know how many they are going to do, but tonight they built a real 30' 9" (nine X larger than normal) guitar. They had luthiers and woodworkers and machinsts and engineers and more working on this thing - Seymor Duncan made the pickup. They machined the tuners and bridge, truss rod and hardware. Everything was just as a real guitar. It was pretty neat! They had it painted at a body shop. When it was done they had an exhibition and Peter Frampton played slide on it (another guy picked), then two of the builders played it backing Frampton on a regular guitar. One stood in front of it and held the strings down on the frets with his palms, while the other picked the strings. [It never was tuned to regular guitar pitch, but much lower.]

Big gig at the Blind Pig (the premiere rock club in Ann Arbor) tonight. Just a little showcase thing. Hopefully it will result in some real gigs there. Wish me luck.

Not bad. A small turnout, but we were really just wanting to get our foot in the door at the Blind Pig and get a decent sounding recording out of it, which we did. We're happy with it. Thanks for asking
